Fantastic video. I love how you explained your rationale for what went where, even better that the director respected the history. You took great care with weapons in your charge. I got out of film armoury because my kit kept coming back to me in bits.

I have to ask: on the mocked up Ruger Vaquero "LeMat", how does one go about removing the cylinder? It looks like the faux LeMat front end completely enshrouds the base pin, and as anyone familiar with any SAA-type revolver knows, its necessary to access the base pin in order to do this (and it would be imperative for cleaning, especially if you're using black powder loads). I'm just curious. Also, how did they go about getting an unfluted cylinder for the Vaquero? I've never seen a Vaquero come standard with an unfluted cylinder (mostly only seen that done of Blackhawks, at least in regards to Rugers). Did they fill in the flutes themselves? Did they have a custom cylinder made/make one themselves? Or did they maybe manage to fit an unfluted Blackhawk cylinder to the gun somehow? My apologies for the barrage of questions, I'm just really into 19th century guns and found the concept of a mocked-up LeMat interesting (honestly kinda makes me think of the fake top break "LeMat" that the title character carried in the short lived TV series "Johnny Ringo" back in the day).
@FilmArmorerJoeyDillon27 күн бұрын
So the cylinder pin was modified to be longer, and is extended forward into the shotgun tube. With a tool you can reach in far enough and grab it and pull it forward and out. As for the cylinder, not sure, they may have filled in the flutes, or they sourced an unfluted cylinder. Maybe from a Blackhawk? Not sure if that would fit. I have seen some other custom vaqueros online with unfluted cylinders. Wonder where they got there's too. Yea! Johnny Ringo's "Lemat", that would be a cool prop gun to own!
@RebelOutlaw9727 күн бұрын
@@FilmArmorerJoeyDillon Thank you so much for responding! See, I was wondering if it was something like that 😂 an extended cylinder pin seemed to me like the only feasible way for it to work, but I just wasn't sure. Yeah, I wouldn't imagine a Blackhawk cylinder would fit a Vaquero either-at least not a New Vaquero. Seems like it would simply be too big. I've seen a few custom Vaqueros with unfluted cylinders as well: Gary Reeder's custom revolvers come to mind. Just never saw one come standard with one. Sourcing an unfluted cylinder somehow or filling in the flutes themselves seems most likely to me. Yeah, Johnny Ringo's "LeMat" would absolutely be awesome to own 😂 it may be completely ahistorical, but darn it, it's still an iconic gun from a bygone era of TV Westerns. I've seen a few good closeup pictures of that prop gun online that aren't from the show, but aside from that, it seems to be completely lost to history. No info on who made it, its current whereabouts/status, nothing (at least, none that I can find). Such a shame.

lots of videos. but I still haven't seen what the front axle and rear axle look like, as well as the transmission. It's necessary to show technical aspects. lots of talk in the video but no technical information.😖😖😖😖😖
@FilmArmorerJoeyDillonАй бұрын
Hmmm, not sure I earned 5 angry faces, but I apologize you feel that way. I'm guessing you are restoring or need info on specifically the trans or axles, or you would not have been so specific. I believe I provided a lot of technical info on the engine, data plates, vins, the entire brake system, the wheels and drums, and more. So "no technical information" is not really accurate. There are many factory Cadillacs out there, and I bet they talk about their cars. I knew the only thing that would set mine apart was what made it unique, mainly it's history and especially it's brake system. So I decided to mainly cover those areas and let the other people with stock Cads discuss theirs. I hope through those owners you will somehow find the info you need. I pray you have a blessed new years!

For the guns used. Did you remember if the Taylors’ was an Uberti made pistol and the Cimarron a Pietta? Or vise-versa or if all were Uberti or all Pietta models, since Taylors an Cimarron both may mod the guns but do not make them?

I've got a script in play involving 1837 Paterson colt pistols. I'm curious to see what the production company does if the script gets picked up because even Paterson Colt replica's are difficult to find anymore since they seem to be out of production by even Italian companies.

If you need to carry a single action army in your waistband and you don't have a holster, you can just flip open the loading gate and rest the gate on your pants waistband. It won't fall down your pants carried that way.

Haha, yes, I understand the comment. As far as my experience goes, sometimes the director is keen on recoil and remembers to say something. If not, myself, or the stunt coordinator, will teach and remind them to fake some recoil. Many times the actors are concentrating on hitting their marks (where to stand on ground for camera), dialogue, and a few other things and they forget the recoil! Many times that's the take the editors use... We try!

Old tiers would swing out the loading gate on their Colt single action revolvers to keep it from sliding down when the old timer wore the pistol without a holster in the waistband.
