Alex is a great climber and a well intentioned person, but wildly misled about the importance of schools. They teach the theory of evolution as a fact. Now they're teaching infinite genders. Some subjects have value but teachers aren't required. After all, those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.

Great idea to have your wood fire getting started using solar, to save the environment you know.

I am new to watching Alex, although I saw Free Solo when it came out. I am a 58 year old non athletic female….we have very little in common….and I don’t aspire to a life like his. So why am I so drawn to him? The way he speaks…..he is so unconsciously unselfconscious. He truly believes that we can all accomplish what he has just by putting in the work. It’s so delightfully unrealistic! But it seems in his core he believes that and it’s endearing. Also…he is such a great story teller. When he was talking about making the mental shift to being able to climb El Cap and said he looked at the wall in contemplation and said “I am 100% not doing that” I laughed out loud. I will watch anything with Alex in it.

Great talk and enjoyed Free Solo. He is inspirational. Wish they would trim the whiny girlfriend parts out. We don't need that negativity before we climb.

"I feel so big when I climb this huge walls but at the same time I feel insignificant because some of these walls are so big and you're such a tiny little speck ...and if I fall off the mountain will not care. The smallness of it, remembering your place in nature, remembering that I'm a an insignificant speck in the cosmos but at the same time that I am living my best life. This is what I love of free soloing" THIS THOUGHT FRM ALEX SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE MOVIE

The most rad thing about him above climbing is his persona, demeanor. Letting others speak, completely humble. How?

I think what she was trying to point out is that he wasn't living comfortably back then. Obviously if he was in fact that poor he wouldn't be donating money.

The guy certainly turned his passion into a lucrative career. He's one of those rare millionaires who wouldn't really be devastated if for some reason he lost all his money tomorrow. He was clearly content living in his Van, eating Veg. and dedicating his time to his passions. In my opinion, he has earned and totally deserves every penny he now has. He's a little spacey and granola, but he's a total Legend, and you can tell, a good person inside who obviously cares deeply about the environment.

He is pretty good at picking out clothes, he's able to hide one of the biggest sets of balls in the world. All jokes aside, we need more people like him.

What a unsympathetic woman ( the one who is there to promote the movie, but first she said was, let us talk about fuckin solar energy )….. Typical leftist narrative and very calculated…. 🤮…….Alex and his achievement are just a tools for that bunch of weirdos……

Re mosquito nets: it's true that they don't have 100% use as mosquito nets. But the number is something like 90% (being used as intended). If 90% of your nets are being used, they're still a very inexpensive way to both improve and save lives. 80,000 hours had a good episode about malaria prevention measures recently. Here's a bit from the transcript on the fishing net issue: " In the issue of misuse of nets, we’ve got to keep in mind that malaria is a consequence of poverty, and malaria can contribute to inequities. Let’s appreciate that some of these households are really poor, and even the notion that they are actually using these nets for fishing or over their gardens is a sign of the poverty that some of these households are experiencing. I think it is overstated, because even in those households, what we know from all the evidence is that the access to nets is an important driver of use - and so by ensuring this access, you’re actually facilitating the use of them.

I could listen to him talk about climbing all day. He’s so humble and direct, very rarely do you come across a person with such a genuine passion for what they do and no need to explain to others why they love it.

Few speakers are as fluent as Alex has become. No script, no notes, no teleprompter, no hesitation, just good preparation, that is to say, several years struggling with the challenges until the fears dissolve. A bit like El Capitan, in other words. El Capitan was awe-inspiring, but so is Alex's development as a public speaker . . .
