Ten years later and I am still using this video to cut my hair several times a year. I have long hair and the first time I tried it, I was bound to cut my hair shorter than usual. I was afraid, but it came out great! This is the hair cut I had always tried to get stylist to do on my long straight hair, but they would only trim the bottom. I love the layers. Thank you for this easy to follow video. I like this cut as it retains a thick baseline, which I find keeps the style in place better in-between washes.

Something went wrong when I cut my hair using this tutorial. Maybe I directed the hair forward and not enough downwards when I cut the first sections or something. I ended up with long hair in the back and short hair in the front and can't really fugure out what went wrong. Any ideas? 🙂

I used this tutorial back when this was still a new video. I found a stylist about 3 months later who I’d been seeing for the last 9 years, and she recently decided to stop doing hair. I immediately remembered cutting my hair with this and I’m so glad it’s still here!

I have fine hair , would this over directing layering technique work on fine hair. Every time i go to the salon to get long layers they take out to much weight and my hair turns to cotton candy texture. Juat a ball of puffy light frizz. My hair is very long to the bottom of my back. I want to go up to below my shoulders without removing much weight.

Nice work mum...the same way my barber did it. I got so tired of long hair and no one to cut it, I went at it with scissors, two mirrors and the trimmer on the back of my electric razor. I was nervous and it took me a long time but surprisingly looks good for a covid cut...no one is starring or said anything yet. I'm used to fixing up around the ears because my barber rarely got them even. Since then I've bought an all in one trimmer kit and this video helps. I like the idea of keeping it trimmed at the right length all the time.
