I'd be willing to bet, the GTS developes into the better pour with some air and time in the bottle. Last years WLW was horrible, and the GTS was ok. The Handy was the best of 2023. This years GTS is way better than last years, even though the initial impression is nostril buring hot. It should mellow out though. ..but I prefer the Stagg mashbill to wheaters in general, which is why I hate everything MM produces. lol. Though I do enjoy W12, OWA and WFP at retail

I always cringe when I hear "smooth" as a positive descriptor for whiskey. "Drinks below it's proof" or saying that certain flavors balance the heat is more helpful. I don't drink whiskey because it is smooth. If anything it's a knock on a whiskey because it sounds like it is watery or no flavor stands out so it's mid at best.

@@90sMallArcade I’d have to disagree. It’s always so impressive to me when there is a whiskey that sips below the posted proof. That doesn’t mean it’s bad at all. If anything I can pull way more “complex” notes from a whiskey like that vs something that is just super hot.
