The first time I saw RG play on KZbin,? I was dumb struck, couldn't believe what he was doing, and the sound coming out ?? Oh, and the vocals!!!!! Yes, I can only dream of playing half like him,? RG had truly mastered the guitar. RIP RG.

I saw Rory a number of times… alone with many others from Dire Straits to BB King to U2 … by a country mile none could equal Rory .. his gigs at the Olympia theatre were astounding.. how is the building even still standing.. Rory had a magnetic personal appeal that changed many people’s lives- Des in Dublin

@@TheReveant888 My mate has just split from his missus, i'll see if he fancies a drive out when the dust settles. I'm only in south Manc, right by the airport, it's not too far away to come for a day/evening. Is there any campsites nearby Rev? Hi pal, my accounts with famous people... not Jimi but Chuck berry,we supported him on a Italian tour,he didn't show for sound check and the band asked if anyone could join in with the sound check on guitar...of course being a drummer and played guitar since a kid jumped at the chance to play guitar with these guys we were supporting,so blues festival in Italy there's me ripping blues with chucks band through his amp and yeah still got wood, thanks for your vid ...got more but probably burn your ear,cheers pal..

I was at that first gig at the Ram Jam club. Me and friends were there to see John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. It’s a long time ago, but what I remember is that Jimi came on in the interval. Chas Chandler was there and easily recognizable because of his time with The Animals. So, Jimi comes on, plays a few numbers and the crowd, including me, didn’t know what to make of this guy. We were all very, very invested in our local heroes, Eric, Jeff, Peter Green etc., so Jimi went down quite badly, like, who the hell was that? It was playing of a completely different order. After a very lukewarm warm reception, Jimi, was not happy. As he exited, he threw his Strat right across the stage from left to right where it came crashing down. I believe that after that he went up into London and played at another club. A few weeks later, EVERYONE knew who Jimi was.

Thank you for watching and sharing your own memory of Jimi, It must have been a very hard to get your mind around Jimi's playing, so different from what everyone was use to at the time, I know my dad wasn't too impressed with his playing, But Jimi certainly made a impact in the months and years to fallow ❤

I agree with you 100%! Rory Gallagher - the best ever! Not only as a guitarist, but as a complete musician. I saw his show in Oslo in 1979 "I felt that he was playing and communicating just to and for me! Others I know have exp. exactly the same with Rory. His presence was just fantastic and special. I think I have listened to Rory at least once a day ever since that show in 79

How can you prove that? I don't like his music but he is undeniably a great blues to rock string player, probably a natural so gifted with a genius fluency aka able to play anything on anything.😢 Still just sounds like AI generic genre pieces, sorry but it is all about honesty 🤦🏻‍♀️ Just no guidance or collaboration. A genius ❤

Not going to be popular , but his success was limited due to his insistence on a commerically limited genre , blues . Yes he played folk but outside Ireland and bits of the US …. He intentionally avoided the dirty pop. Shame . Love Bad Penny and the obvious Tatoo Lady Maybe because he was Irish too (terribly conservative country back then, good books and music were BANNED for either being immoral or too British . We were in a period of hardcore Irish trad , which is great but it gets boring . Anyone familiar with Irish trad , it’s rich with made guitar riffs and licks But Ireland back in the 1960s , (oh there was no swinging 60s even if we had show bands, Van and Rory started that way ) no dances during Lent (period before Easter ) But ya Rory was not keen on playing in big venues and he hated travelling far from Ireland and Britain . So American didn’t get to see enough of him. Rory didn’t really write good songs lyrically so people missed him . Great singer though As for Hendrix , he was often complimentary towards other guitarists eg Clapton. He wasn’t the Noel Gallagher type to agree with a journalist and say “damn right I am the best “ Nice that non Irish people give credit to Rory though. It’s mad that due to their rich musical history it was only when Van Morrison and then Rory and then Lizzy that the world saw that the Irish (both sides of the island ) could mix it up

Thank you for watching and commenting, your right in what you say Rory turned down great opportunities like, woodstock joining the stones etc, and liked the smaller gigs,( I love watching Rory interact with the crowds, there is bullfrog blues, where Rory lets a young lad in the crowd bash away at his guitar mid song, Rory and the lad are both lost in the moment,) but Rory could have done more to be more well known, I wonder how much the record companies held Rory's music back, I saw a ineterview with his brother saying that Bob Dylan rang him to get Rory's albums sent over as they didn't have them in the US

@TheReveant888

Thank you for watching, You are indeed confused, but that's ok we all have a different opinion, Randy Rhoads, Janick Gers, Kirk Hammett, Zack wild, Slash, etc all rate Rory as AAA grade

@@TheReveant888 But Rory is a wrong answer he is clearly inferior to a guy like Rhoads, listen to his live playing. There are no right answers as to the greatest but there are a lot of wrong answers and Kirk, Rory, Slash ...all B leaguers. Rhoads never talked about Rory so no..... Janick Gers come on man, he is the least important guy in Maiden. slash is not a great guitarist. I guarantee if you ask any of those who is a more talented player or writer: Rhoads or Rory or even Eddie van Halenm Rory gets few votes You should redo the video as: The greatest B leaguer of all time I think... by the way I have a signed shirt by Zakk Wylde where he wrote who the G.O.A.T. is;;;St. rhoads

@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle, No such thing as a inferior guitar great, If you had got Rory and Randy together on stage it would have been Awesome, a lot of the techniques used by Randy were pioneered by Rory in the early 70s, Rory could play and hold his own on any stage, from country and folk or Blues and Rock even with metal bands Rory would be able to shine, but he chose to stay with the music he loved, Randy is another great Guitarist that does not get the recognition he deserves ❤

@@TheReveant888 it is all relative., it is not an insult. No one is saying he is not a very good guitar player, but he never changed the game on any level. Randy changed the game, he is viewed by many as the best metal guitarist of all-time
