In the 1970s I had a friend who was a roadie for Hendrix on that Fall 1967 tour with Pink Floyd. He told me about Hendrix and Pink Floyd jamming in a hotel room. He didn't mention anyone taping it though,

Great story Rev, good on you for getting this stuff out there. Different era but in the same vein. My old feller was a drummer that played on the northern club circuit, think Pheonix Nights lol, he played to a whole host of sixties and seventies stars who went on to bigger things, Englebert Humperdink for one (yeah, I know lol)..His two biggest things of note that I know of was, he was offered the job as the resident drummer on the QE2, something he let slip only a few years before he died, he turned it down because it was unfair on my mum and the kids. The other thing was that he was best mates with the guy who is widely regarded as the first person to introduce jazz into Britain, Vic Filmer. My brother maintains that dad had recordings of them both playing together with Vic on piano. Lost forever. I still have dads drum kit in the loft...That could tell some stories. PS, bit of family rock trivia...My uncles ashes were spread on Elvis's grave...PPS, I also have some stories of my own involving Thin Lizzy that are bonkers, but I'll save that for another time. Cheers pal.

@@TheReveant888 Cheers Rev, hope you enjoyed the tune, it was all improv in one take that one. It was done about an hour after finding out my older brother had died in the night so it was played from the heart with real emotion. It was meant to be played at his funeral but it wasn't finished in time, so I just dedicated it to him. As for getting out there, like I said, I don't drive and its a bind to get anywhere, otherwise I'd be out there doing it full on. I'm mainly a hard rock guitar player, same as yourself, but I picked up the bass about six years ago to increase my chances of getting in a band. I got asked to join a band called Slaughter and the Dogs (google them) but then covid struck and it all turned to rat shit. On the subject of Slaughter ATD, the drummer is a mate of mine who is related by marriage. He's told me some cracking stories about Margaret Thatcher, Morrissey, Jilted John (Graham Fellows), Joe Walsh and others. Cheers Rev. BTW, if you want to hear the rest of the tune, go to google and type dabz/blues for johnny it should bring up my soundcloud page with it on. There is nowt else on it though, I set it up to send the tune to my brothers kids and my family, it wasn't meant for promo/demo. Also, if you type into you tube or google, A Golden Day in Wythenshawe Park by North By Northwest, you'll find a tune my mate used on one of his slide show vids to side step royalty issues. It's a bit crunchier than Blues for Johnny.

Glad I come across this vid cos I often wonder if there were links between Pink Floyd & Hawkwind, cos obviously both psychedelic, started around the same time and in London. I wonder if Nick Turner was one of them with Dave Brock when at that house. Thanks for cool story! ✌🏽🌎🌻

Learn something new every day always been a fan on both bands , i do prefer the early Hawkwind myself and pink Floyd , reason why is they were very experimental , finding their footing so to speak , that many bands started that way . thanks for the info , i do believe David Gilmour knew of hawkwind at the time when asked the question but did not liberate any more info on it passing ships on the seas.

From how my dad describes the house it was very experimental with all'sorts of different instruments being played and merged together, along with quite a few different dr**gs being used to help with the music etc, he does'nt mention meeting David Gilmour ,so I assume this was before David was brought into floyd as Syd was still active, but the amount of lsd being used, it won't have been long after when Syd became Ill ❤
