YOU NEED TO SPRINT! Think of it as a 300 meter race, the last 100 is just where you use all your might and try to stay alive. Get out of the blocks 70% of what you would use for a 200m, get to a fast top speed (say 80%) and if you feel yourself slowing down, try to move your legs faster (swing your arms consciously too) naturally you slow down inevitably, and over the last 100, Give em hell.

@wilflava29 күн бұрын
I used to agree and theoretically it's true, but the problem is with the mental side. Your second fastest sprinter won't be as used to winning races/being the one chased and might bottle it. Watch GB at the 2021 Olympics and 2023 World Championships and the last runner bottles the medal, a more experienced sprinter wouldn't.

@andyysuppАй бұрын
nahh the second usually needed the second fastest in your team bro. you looked at them like they're slow but it is important to have speed momentum in that area, hence why people always put the second fastest sprinter in the second leg since it's a straight course too
@kobegoh7935Ай бұрын
2nd leg is the longest leg, theres absolutely no way im putting my slowest guy on there. I actually like the idea of putting your fastest guy on this 2nd leg and 2nd fastest on anchor. But those two can be interchanggeable
@Hengel_AndrewsАй бұрын
Haha. I’ve seen those team those “he almost caught them, if only the race was 10 meters longer for sure he’d have caught up”. If you’re going to hide your slowest guy, hide him on the 3rd leg by putting him deep in the exchange zone and putting the last leg high in their exchange zone.

What would be the comparison of adding sprinting for strength gaining rather than just lifting weights?
@TrackHead0329 күн бұрын
the thing is, sprinting isn't added for strength gains, weight training is best for that. But I believe that no movement enhances overall explosiveness like sprinting does while also raising strength at the same time

@TrackHead03Ай бұрын
i get what you're saying but basketball players DO make good sprinters. With just a few lactate workouts they would make good 400m sprinters as well. But you NEED to be fast and explosive first before even thinking about being good at the 400. Speed and plyos are what's truly essential for all sprinters lactate workouts are just necessary supplements for the longer sprints. Hope this helps

For a 4/8 guy you gotta be fast and enduring so I found what works is the off-season make half of your days sprint/top speed work and the other half long slow endurance. When cross season hits, double the mileage and go aerobic. After xc, refresh your speed with 1-2 weeks with the sprinters, then afterwards go full speed endurance with 1 long a week

The Russian Sports scientists recommended this form of training to achieve improved sprinting performance.

another thing animals don't do, is warm up. it's not like they are going to tell their prey "hey wait a minute, I need to warm up first". It's a combination of adrenaline and if you watch the way their muscles tremble before they pounce, that's the pre-run activation.
@grimreality451Ай бұрын

@@stevespyder The irony is the ones I've personally observed doing the most static stretching tend to get injured the most frequently. I rarely do static stretching. I opt for having my body go through the same motions, only at a slower pace. Say for example, before running a 100 meter sprint, I run about 50% top speed for 20 meters followed by 50 meters. Then I run 50 meters at around 80% of my top speed. This is usually enough to get my muscles heated up and activated. So going back to the analogy, while predators may be warming up while slowly running towards and stalking their prey before pursuing them at top speed, they sure aren't doing any static stretching. Another thing I should mention is from youth on up into my early twenties, I never had to warm up and never once did I get a serious leg injury. Heck, I never sprained my ankle once in my entire life. As I've grown older, I've noticed my joints aren't as bouncy as they were when I was younger so I do the warmups I've mentioned previously just in case.

I think sub-max speed running will be good for beginners to avoid injuries, but for those physically strong enough that's a waste of effort. The endurance ability for sprinters is not cardiovascular and lactic ones, but simply muscle strength which prevent speed loss when landing.
