I'm African and had a very similar upbringing. My parents were strict and frugal and didn't want me to move out after college, so I took advantage of the situation. Saved all my money and invested in rental properties and other investments and they did too. Now we're all living on passive income and traveling the world 😊

My company paid a consultant to provide retirement classes when I was 24 and just started saving for retirement. The class was called "The Kids Table" and basically their advice was go with a target retirement fund that aligned with your 65th birthday. That was 20 years ago. It is the only thing I've ever invested in. How else can I grow my finance?
@JefferyDunsКүн бұрын
target date funds made me a multimillionaire but i also watched them drop 40% in a very short time and take a long time to recover. my best suggestion is that you seek the guidance of a seasoned advisor to avoid mistakes

When it comes to ‘’personal’’ finance/retirement planning, following the steps of a seasoned advisor did the trick for me in just 5 years. Helped turn my capital into a whooping 6 figure yearly returns. If you want to keep it very safe, then Vanguard TDF may be for you.

Every year I am seeing that my mutual funds have a higher percentage of payouts at year's end for short-term and long-term gains. Historically, this trend was negligible and not noteworthy, but now, it is becoming a problem with some of the funds. The good news is that it is in the retirement account, so I am not getting hit with a tax bill. The bad news is that excessive sell offs over time signal that the fund could end up selling good assets to pay off excessive redemptions instead of having new buyers assume those assets to avoid a selloff. So what I am asking is, should I start to move my assets from mutual funds to ETFs that have far less frequent gains distributions paid out? If so, do I do it before or after this year's gains are paid out (in theory, it should be the same NAV to me, and I don't have a tax issue). Thoughts?

Speed of construction in North America has a lot to do with the labor laws / union work / safety laws . High rises in nyc can go up lightening fast when managed correctly. I’m not knocking Chinese work ethic, I commend it. But I think it’s a broader conversation than just cultural work ethic.

As an investing enthusiast, I often wonder how top-level investors become millionaires through investing. Buying assets may seem straightforward, but choosing the right stock without a tested plan can be challenging. I've been attempting for some time to increase the size of my $210K portfolio, but the largest obstacle is the absence of clear entry and exit plans. Any guidance in this regard would be much valued.

I'd suggest you discuss with a proper advisor, particularly if you're new at investing or facing uncertainty. I personally have over 180 companies in my portfolio, so if few companies fail, I still have others that can hold me up.

Many folks overlook the importance of advisors until their emotions cause them problems. I recall a few summers ago, after my lengthy divorce, I needed support to keep my business going. I searched for licensed advisors and found someone extremely qualified. She helped grow my reserve from $175K to $750K, despite inflation.

Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.

investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields.

I think it was probably around 2017 when I first made a bet with 2 friends. Between the 3 of us, who could save 100k first. I finally hit the milestone last year, but I wasted at least 3 or 4 of those years gambling on options and futures. Finally I stopped putting money in those accounts and just switched to 401ks only. I got my first job in 2019 after graduating college and made about 30k per year. While I did partake in the grind of saving 10-20% in my 401k. Always having good savings habits helps a ton. I now am fortunate to earn multiples of my initial salary, and it's a no brainer for me to max my 401k each year, and this year I will also max my Roth IRA. I have no doubt that without good savings habits, I would still be stuck in the same rut my friends are in, who do not have very much saved, but I am so thankful I was able to learn skills in an area with high earning potential, and had the good fortune to have an employer who took a chance in hiring me. The first 100k took a good 5 years of earning and saving, even when I was as broke as can be. Now, I think the second 100k might take only 1-2 years depending on how the market is doing. Looking at S&P returns for the 40 different 40 year periods beginning in 1940 and ending in 2020 (1940-1980, to 1980 to 2020), I noticed that the average return was actually closer to 12% each year, and that every dollar invested, on average, was worth $50 after 40 years (not adjusted for inflation). It is wild to me that $100k would be worth $5M during the length of a normal career. For this purpose, we can probably assume that over 40 years, the price of things might 5x, so realistically, the first 100k now, would make you feel like a current millionaire, when you are retired. Of course, that $100k isn't including the additional savings you would be doing in future years.

If you are in cross roads or need sincere advice on the best moves to take now its best you seek an independent advisor who knows about the financial markets. It's better to hire a skilled financial planner especially if you're not one yourself. I hired one, after my retirement pension took a hit in April due to the crash.

people use to save in usa; after nixon took the country off the gold standard which resulted in the arab embargo of oil; then the resulting inflation and continued deficit printing it no longer made any sense to try and save. Prices for everything have risen so much that is why the country will become insolvent along with the so called middle class. Most americans are not ready to live in a house with 25 other people like many asian families do. China is highly indebted at the provincial level and their youths highly unemployed and the ccp spies on its citizens it restricts free speech and internet access and still sends students in the US and other countries. I doubt that the money saved is any solace for lack of freedom.
