My Grandmother Berniece Brostrom wrote the lyrics to this song and her music teacher did the music. It has been recorded by many including Jimmy Swaggart, Rex Humbard, Tennessee Ernie Ford, on Hee Haw by Roy Clark, Buck Owens etc.

Have just seen in the comments that Elvis Presley and Hank Williams senior were in love with her. Not surprising, as she was called "The Appalacian Angel."
