Johnny, I've been an Anita Carter fan since 1851 when, at the age of fourteen, I first heard her sing "Bluebird Island" and "Down the trail Of Aching Hearts" with Hank Snow and she was just a teenager when she recorded then with Hank. Please check out the many recordings she made with Hank! They rank amongst the finest works in the history of country music. Of course, that's my personal opinion. Check out a song named "For Sale" with Hank recorded in 1962. It will give you goose pimples!

Johnny Mac Johnny, in 1962 she recorded an album with Hank Snow titled "Together Again", the back-up voices were those of her Mom and two sisters, June and Helen. Great album! Check it out!

Way too young to die. I am grateful for this whole family of talent. I also love Johnny Cash. "Were You There?" Johnny Cash and the Carters sing this hymm. It is a humbling thing to listen to it. I just found Anita on KZbin singing Loving her was easier, a few months back. Of course, being on the Johnny Cash Show was a quite some time ago, but she was beautiful, a natural that I thought I see more of that realized she died in 1999, at age 66 yrs old. Someone stated she age'd bad, but she was a mountain girl. I would love to love her, now I have to wait until I die to meet her. If God is what they say he is, she'll make her young again in Paradise. I am a Cardinal after all, not many real Cardinal's on Earth.

She died from prescription medications her doctor gave her for Arthritis... The meds destroyed her liver and kidneys.

I've met them all and Waylon Johnny Loretta a bunch grew up around them..was a child 8...country really wasn't that cool as they say it is now..I'm getting old rest almost all gone watch their children...life is something..Thank you for the great memories

It seems well nigh impossible to me for someone to sing this song without firmly believing it. Ina Anita Carter, "The Appalachian Angel," [1933-1999], died at age 66 from complications from rheumatoid arthritis; the drugs that she was given to treat it destroyed her pancreas, kidneys, and liver. There are only around 21 female members of the CMHOF. Anita Carter was never enshrined in it as a solo artist, but as a member of the "Carter Family." This needs to be corrected. (Good luck with THAT!😫) My favorite recordings by her are AS THE SPARROW GOES and the live tv show video of BLUE DOLL, among others. God Almighty, "The Divine Architect of the Universe and Creator of All Things" worked triple overtime putting her glorious vocal apparatus together.
