Absolutely beautiful song, by an absolutely beautiful lady, with the loveliest voice. If you listen to the words carefully, this lovely song says so much. Have just seen in the comments that Elvis Presley and Hank Williams senior were in love with her. Not surprising, as she was called "The Appalacian Angel." She reminds me so much of my beloved Aunt Susan. Love this song and the wonderful photos, they are to be treasured, just like Anita Carter.❤ .

@@Waynedog1 2 weeks ago I hadn't heard of Anita Carter. I spend my time listening to mostly Black Sabbath and Hendrix, etc. Just through following a musical grapevine I stumbled upon her, and my brain very quickly realized I had found my favorite singer. I have never seen anyone pushing her music, so I honestly appreciate people like you, for allowing it to remain in the way of people like me to stumble into. I'm rambling now but thank you for your efforts. It is greatly appreciated -Eric
@Waynedog12 жыл бұрын
@@ecwashere8735 I too stumbled onto the Carter Sisters. I was watching Mother Maybell Carter play the song Wildwood Flower on guitar. A bell went off in my head. My mother also used to play with a thumb pick. Maybell is Anita's mother. She picked out the lead on the bass strings using the thumb pic, and then used a downward strum with her fingers. Very hard to copy or duplicate.

Not one voice before or since can usher you into the confines of her nuances, diction, timing, and that voice. Melt a block of ice from a hundred yards, and freeze it again in the next sentence. Where are the voices like this today? There are none, and never will be. This like Patsy Cline, and Patty Loveless are once in a lifetime. This is once in forever voice. You should hear this on a set of massive Tannoy loudspeakers. With a set of McIntosh tube amps, Mac tube preamp, and a tube moving coil pickup. Played on a Thorens turntable. Let those tubes warm up and sit right in front of the focal point and let those tubes talk to you. Nothing like it.
