A lot of how he feels but lacking any scripture. KNOWN LANGUAGES not gibberish. There is nothing said about a heavenly language in the Bible. Pagans, Hindus, muslims and Satanist also speak in gibberish “tongues”

1 Corinthians 13:1 doesn’t count? 😂 It was never known languages after Pentecost even for the Apostle Paul…that’s why he referred to it as “praying without understanding”. Feels a little strong to put me in a camp with pagans and Satanists but I get where you’re coming from. 😂😂

@@prestonmorrison4094 1 Corinthians 13:1 Paul is writing hyperbolically. This current day church tongues phenomenon is relatively new starting in 1906 with Azusa Street Revival, none of the early church fathers EVER wrote about it. Gifts are to edify the body not yourself. Pray with understanding not mindless repetition. If you don’t know what to pray, Jesus told us to pray the Lord’s Prayer…

@@prestonmorrison4094 1 corinthians 14:4 is a derogatory statement. The point is being made that prophecy is greater and edifies the body. The one who speaks in a tongue *known language* only edifies himself. He doesn’t know the language he’s speaking and no one else knows that language either, except God.

No differently AT ALL. Nobody is LESS than or MORE than. I think that’s the danger of thinking everybody has to be in the exact same place at the exact same time. Like with any message I teach, the goal for every hearer is to say, ”God, what do you want me to do with this?”

I used to have a lot of opinions around praying in a heavenly language. But when I yielded my opinions and my tongue to the Spirit a few years ago, it was transformational. What happened in my heart and my mind and how it truly strengthened me and awakened other giftings and strengths within me is undeniable.

In the past year, I have seen people proclaim they have these gifts but attempt to shut others down which has drawn me away from seeking this gift. Thank you for this message as while I spend most of my day in prayer for my family, clients, and community, I feel that I am falling short of God’s will or anointing for my life. I was guided to this message for a reason this morning and I am grateful to take another step closer to what eternity with Him holds!

My struggle is actually pretty superficial! Like if I am in a spiritual valley and I don’t want church people know, I struggled if I put on my smile to serve to tell how much God loves us while I internally struggle faith in him. I am feeling like a hypocrite. If this ever happen, should I just don’t go church?

There is absolutely nothing mysterious about Biblical "tongues" - and there is only *one* type - when referring to something spoken, they are nothing more than real, rational language(s); usually, but not always, unknown to those listening to them, but always known by the speaker(s) - it’s their native language (in some cases, it is a language the speaker has learned). _Nowhere_ in the Bible is modern tongues-speech advocated or evidenced. ‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God/Holy Spirit given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy (as many people incorrectly assume), nor is it the self-created non-cognitive non-language utterance of what certain Christian denominations are producing today (modern tongues-speech).

Preston, I can’t thank you enough and praise God enough for speaking through you via this episode of The Leaders Cut. I’ve known for sometime that I have suffered from the spirit of rejection, and little by little God has given me revelation and wisdom to succumb to it less and less. The exercise you took us through by closing our eyes, picturing that moment in which the spirit of rejection took hold of us, and inviting Jesus into that moment has been the most empowering moment of freedom I’ve experienced during this journey. I’m 52, so it’s been a long one, and I know the journey has not been for naught. Daily, God continues to grow me in wisdom and understanding. The Leader’s Cut has been a huge asset to my growth. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord and your vulnerability.

My problem with the claim of speaking in tongues is that scripture clearly states that they should be interpreted. This means that it can be understood. There is no scriptural evidence for a language coming out of you that you can’t understand. At that point it is just babble speech.
@shahnbarse5818
@shahnbarse5818 Күн бұрын
I want to clarify that I’m not a cessationist. I also still love Preston and believe he has a lot of spiritual wisdom. This is just something that I believe hurts the church more than helps. Babble speech is just a placebo. I grew up in charismatic churches, so it’s not like I’m just an outsider speaking on something that I didn’t experience. Jesus only prayed in known language. When asked how to pray Jesus didn’t mention any sort of prayer language. Only a reach of interpretation of Paul’s words have people believing the lie that there is a secret language that we can’t understand.

Love your perspective. 1 Cor 14 covers both corporate use AND private use. Paul saying he would rather use words people understand in public, shows what he prefers in private. He also makes clear that a believer is personally strengthened when praying in tongues. LOVE the way you’re trying to approach the conversation. Also, Romans 8:26 covers the “babble”.
@shahnbarse5818
@shahnbarse5818 Күн бұрын
I feel like we’re interpreting different things from the same scripture though. When I read Romans 8:26-27 I see “too deep for words” as meaning that it’s too great to describe. It doesn’t say “too deep for human words” so even if there were a language of heaven then shouldn’t it be too deep for those words as well? I’m also seeing explanation in 1 Corinthians 14:21 that shows that “tongues” is clearly speaking about the different languages of men.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I’m connecting what Paul is talking about in Ro 8:26 to what Paul refers to in 1 Cor 13:1.
@shahnbarse5818
@shahnbarse5818 Күн бұрын
1 Corinthians 13:1 is the closest scripture to backing up the idea of a heavenly language. I would argue against that though. I would argue that Paul is just making a statement based on traditional cultural beliefs at that time. In the 1st century it was common belief that angels had their own languages just like humans did. For Paul to use the words “tongues of men and of angels” is simply covering all known languages, and not some sort of secret language. God is not the author of confusion. Why would He confuse us with a language that we can’t understand? The gift of tongues was actually the opposite. It was reversing the confusion of languages that happened at Babel. It was bringing understanding to something that was previously confused.

Why would you ask Alejandro permission to pray for him when you’re being led by the spirit? I don’t agree with this statement. The only permission you need is God’s and he already gave it to you by giving you full access to the Holy Spirit.

My husband and I are praying for the impossible. We are praying for the Lord to open the womb. Preston the Holy Spirit was speaking straight through you to us when you said “Don’t take the doctors report.” My husband has been diagnosed with an unknown cause of azoospermia (0 sperm count). The doctor told us adoption or donor are our options. All tests have come back normal and the issue is unexplainable. Our impossible prayer is BOLDLY asking the God of the Universe to heal, to make life come forth in a way that only He can. In a way that will only bring glory to His name. We are petitioning the God of miracle for a miracle of our own. Thank you for pushing us toward Jesus even more and encouraging us to pray earnestly in faith.
