Just to say: while Schettino refused to get on board, the vice-mayor of the isle (who was not a sailor) did it by itself and rescued many people dying with his hands.

I'm not defending Schettino but be truthful, how many people would have the courage to get back on a ship that was being filled with corpses? I can be as brave as the best here in my armchair but when my life is on the line the instinct to flee is something I'm not sure I could overcome.
