I just got this. As a new(ish) Max user, your pack makes things a ton easier. I was wondering if there is a way to make the depth of the. rtt.feel object go to negative values so it would be possible to reverse the pattern that the user draws? Awesome work though, and starting the next tutorial now. Thanks for everything that you do for the community.

ah, this one will be particularly useful Philip ! Would you ... consider making a 16 (i.e. drum rack compatible) version ?? // in any case thank you again
@p__meyer
@p__meyer 7 күн бұрын
thanks! making a 16-track version is tough because of the limited space. also i don't exactly know how i would scale the algorithm. one thing you could do is generate with 4 tracks and then use a transformer device like Range or Pattern Transform to transpose some of the notes

hey i make microtonal music and the chord inverter would be sick if it could invert chords in tunings with more or less than 12 notes. It is already sick but it would be more so with that functionality. I think the device you made inverts chords based around 12 semitone octaves right? Idk how difficult it would be to make a similar device work with other tunings.
@p__meyer
@p__meyer 9 күн бұрын
yes the device currently assumes 12-tone octaves. when i started building these devices, ableton didn't expose any tunings information to max for live devices, but that has changed at least to some extent. whether there is enough infrastructure to in place to truly support microtonal midi tools i still need to do some research on...
@guessw3rktunes733
@guessw3rktunes733 8 күн бұрын
@@p__meyer many of the built-in ableton plugins that would otherwise be useful, like scale, tuner, autoshift, etc, are very janky/nonfunctional in other tunings. Microtonal music in the DAW is, in general, a janky experience. I don't even use the new tuning option. I use a 3rd party plugin and change tunings for my synths and such thru that. I'm always on the hunt for devices that will make my workflow easier, whether they're intended for microtonal stuff or not.

I am wondering if the Reduce could also be a midi-device? One of the fast and easy workflows I use to inject just a bit of randomness is to take the random device with a low chance setting and not too many intervals in conjunction with a scale device to keep things in key. For breaks or buildups I often times use something like Lucky Notes to filter the amount of midi-notes that get through. It would be great to use Reduce for that to have more control over the randomness while keeping the comfort of doing things (later) in the device chain and the possibility for automation.

Hey Phil! I just went to install this pack when I noticed that I don't have the MIDI Tools folder in my User Library, *however* in Live I still have access to some of your other devices I bought a few weeks ago. I'm a bit confused as to where those are living when the MIDI Tools folder isn't there. Do you know what's up with that?
@p__meyer
@p__meyer 13 күн бұрын
hmm i’m not sure, i think live will see them if they are anywhere in the user library. maybe try searching the filesystem by name?

Amazing stuff. I feel like you should merge the even seed and phrase shuffler pro idea into a new melody generator device. Something that creates motifs by including transposed repetitions within the random seed.

@@p__meyer i wonder if it would be possible to create a midi device that acts as a carrier that you could place special midi devices in and link modular style to achieve the same effect. Could be redundant but an idea!
@p__meyer
@p__meyer 9 күн бұрын
@@sionicwasp yeah, as i start to think about this idea i'm considering those types of options. my thinking at the moment is that live's midi tracks and instrument racks actually do the job pretty well, so I don't know that it's necessary to create the container device that houses the modules.

cheers man! wondering how you go about interpolating between the different buffers, would you use nodes? I'd like to have all the buffers playing at the same time and then be able blend (cross fade) between them! Thanks
@p__meyer
@p__meyer 17 күн бұрын
that’s cool. yeah you could use nodes as the UI. to actually smoothly blend and mix the different samples, you would need to use a different approach that has multiple sample players that get mixed my a mixing matrix or something similar.
