Let me explain what you are saying from principal of Mechanics .... the swimmer add energy to his front part = Shoulders and two arms by hip rotation ... now adding rotational energy is not enough to move forward Why ??!! Because we need to convert rotational energy to translational energy so swimmer can move forward .... So How to Do That ??!! By Arm Movement ....... Raise Elbow Up ... When Hand insert to the water ...full rotational energy transfer to the arm ... Now extend the Arm by 30 Degrees with Water this will produce force on the arm .... part of this arm in motion direction so the swimmer will move forward ... another component of this force push arm down ...this will make down hill and gliding .... More clever swimmer who can transfer the maximum amount of rotation to translational energy same As greatest Coach Shinji Takeuchi (if spelling is correct) so Here I would like to say another observation ...your higher Arm High Elbow .. raising your hand ... all of these things to arrange the side of body that out of water to be ready to absorb rotational motion and convert to translational motion.... That is Why Coach Terry Laughlin he is one of the genius man in swimming ...because this man who was discovered this issue .... roll your body by core muscles ...transfer this energy to move forward ...very comfort .... the fatal mistake if swimmer could not convert this rotation to translational motion ... so the swimmer will roll only , slow motion , body will roll not move forward ... 1000 Million Thanks to Coach Rafa .. Your videos are impressive All the Best Mecheil Edwar

Great As Usual Coach Rafa... Let me share my experience it may Help.... I noted for all fishes Head is fixed ... every thing comes after head.. What I mean ..Imagine there is something fix your head in the water ..head moves forward all times ..two arms move back and forward ... Every time get your chest little downhill.. imagine you are diving with little slope with water ...your head is reference point for whole body and front hand move forward and down.. and crawinling hand moves back ... and both moves parallel with center line of body all times..... every time when swimm do not feel your body is rolling .. no ... fell your body moves forward ..actually rolling push half side of body forward ..and half body back ...... rolling .. imagine you lie in a flat floating board in the water and you crawinlg by hand you roll to one side ..keep it aligned .. roll crefully to keep balance .. crawl by other side that automatically will roll your shoulders and chest .. when you crawl you try to keep you inertia force pushing you and board forward.... Many Many Thanks Coach Rafa .. You are one who explains Mechanics of swimming in excellent way.. All The Best Mecheil Edwar..

Hi, in these 2 videos I show how to do it, but I haven't translated them into English yet. For now you can enjoy it by activating the KZbin subtitles while I work on the translation. 🔵 kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHWQXnmad6mdapYsi=rSJSljgM6jPyflbv 🟢 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHvInWyQdsqphZYsi=QKOj5Qs1a3n1NXux

Hi Efficient Swimming, do you do video analysis? I am trying to improve my freestyle swimming. If you have a couple of minutes to point out my biggest problems and how to solve them would be highly appreciated: watch?v=S6DL16aHY0Q

I've been struggeling working on proper rolling movement after the entry for quite some time now (which also had a negative effect on my breathing technique). This explanation will help me a lot working on my key issue - front arm movement after the entry! I've only tried to "swim tall" for a better glide and was very successful with one arm breathing drills but could never really "connect" when swimming. Looking forward to my next swimming session :)

This is perfect explanation, I have found slowing everything down. For me to make sure I am doing it all right, big glides and concentrate where my arms are going. I saw a video about breathing every 2 and not gasping and my long distance became so much easier.

Very well explained, thank you. One question though, what initiates rotation? Is it: the reach and stretch of your forward (gliding) hand; or, is it a muscular hip/ab flex; or, is it the well timed kick? Again thanks!

This was very helpful to understand how we can create an efficient stroke based on how our brain works. I’m excited to try the 3 focal points in the way you explained. I will try to get someone to film my swimming so I can get some feedback. Thanks so much for creating these videos. You are excellent at explaining concepts in a way that makes it easy for us to understand.
