Howdy from the 1:12:00 minute mark. A fun thought for trying to win could have been going fold space, since no one else can get highliner yet - and then going highliner your next move. That gives you one point for alliance, and maybe you win the conflict as well, giving you 10. Just a thought I had. edit - nice move :)

Was the best way to go, at least get the alliance point knowing Fremen was possibly safe. Winning wasn't necessary but a bonus.

Why don't you get 2 spice at 19:43 when you use your ring to trash dune: the deep desert? Am I missing smt there?

So you only get the bonus spice if you trash a card you didn't start the game with, starter cards don't fall under this.

Hi, Baron player from second game here. I wasn't stream sniping, but as you saw at 2:07:18 i made a little strange conspiracy move. It was not stricly to block you from it, but I was sitting at 2 intrigue cards and didn't really wanted to use any of this, so it was a very logical move for me, cause it would enable me my high council, empty my intrigue hand as I would get rid of high council intrigue and give me my point from emperor track so that i could forget about for the rest of the game ;). But seeing it from your perspective it truly might have looked a little bit weird. Overall - great game, hope to play again someday :D

Some games are hopeless so why not allow the player to quit. The bot will step in and do about as well as the player would have anyway
@BlackShadow993
@BlackShadow993 24 күн бұрын
I've always said that you cannot make someone play a game if they don't want to, so having a reasonable bot to take over is fine with me. But I do know there's some who get very annoyed about early leavers so for them, this might help a bit.

Hey Blackshadow, thank you for the amazing effort you guys are putting in! One question: In the beginning you mentioned a Dune digital tournament, where can people find access to that community? I think a lot of people are rather interested in that, as it is a lot easier to navigate than tts.

After this review I played two solo games with this leader. Two comments. First, by trashing the lower quality cards without buying too many new ones you have a lot more chance of having your ring and diplomacy almost every turn and have full board access. I found myself trashing about 2/3 of the cards from my starter deck not the new ones to get spice. I found the value of more deck control with 7-8 cards as good if not better than 10-12 cards and trashing cards your flowing in and out. Thoughts?
@BlackShadow993
@BlackShadow993 26 күн бұрын
That can defo be an advantage as it allows more consistency but you are also limiting your ways of getting points as you're almost never getting any SMF points with a 7-8 strong deck. So there has to be compensation.

I think this is a really good topic and framing, and I think you both made some really good points. The one thing that I would add is that I've always thought of the green spots as being powerful but negative tempo - going to get your council seat frequently costs you persuasion from the cards you use to get there, for example. But if you can go there and get a draw, you can frequently get a tsmf the turn you go there. Which makes that spy post even better. The list of goodness for that post: you guarantee access to SM, or if you have SM, you can keep the spy there to make sure your opponents can only get SM one at a time, you can guarantee access to privilege or get double draw from privilege, or you can draw the turn you take council. One of the very best spy posts in the mid and late game! The assembly hall post isn't as good, but if you're going for tsmf, having a spy there to pull when you go assembly can also facilitate that.
@hidden-assets
@hidden-assets 28 күн бұрын
Agree! Although I do see people put their spy on Assembly Hall probably because it's less likely to be blocked and can guarantee +2 (or +3) if you have your deck trimmed right.

Didn't think I would win the whole thing. Competition was definitely super fierce along the board. I had interesting decisions round 4&5 about going combat or not. Round 4 I was scared of a heretic highline and decided to secure swordmaster, not an outrageous decision but probably wrong none the less. In round 5 I did not expect mercenaries at all from Feyd, and when it came to pulling the trigger on deep desert it was too late (with spy recall I at best tie Feyd, which is no good for me). Expert timing from Jo to prolong the game. Decided to wait then for the best thumper in my life on a super lucky round 6 combat reveal. Guess when the margins are so slim, you need a bit of luck.

Commentary feedback: I think you've gotten marginally *too* good about mousing over and magnifying relevant cards that come up. The issue is that while you're mousing over it, it often blocks the view of the entire board or at least a large part of it, which a) makes it hard to understand the card in context, because the context is gone and b) causes us to miss subsequent actions. Still, great commentary, thanks!

It is funny how one blue access card changes spice freighter round 5 for me completely. I go sietch to block Feyd and probably get to Hagga to throw 9 strength and unknown int from reveal to conflict. That round was really bad but you have to get some bad rounds after quite a few good ones. Congrats to Spekreep on well deserved win.

Will say tho, I think I prefer the non-live version for the more in-depth commentary. Saying that, it's quite fun for the run-off and final. Keeps us guessing too.
