Unbelievable that they'd put that car out knowing it was inherently flawed aerodynamically after rhecfoest flip incident. It's shaped like an aerofoil

How did Mercedes get the SLS AMG Black Series M159 engine to rev to 8,000 rpm - isn’t it a cross-plane V8?? And a big 6.2 Liter engine at that (easier to get a smaller engine to rev higher than a larger engine).

Y'all gonna hate me, but imo CLR was a mistake. Terrible design of aero dynamics and air pressure system which led this car to go airborn not just once. And that's real shame, because CLK GTR and CLK LM are engineering masterpieces.

Just from observation, Le Mans is a track with relatively steep elevation changes, and the tracks they tested the CLR on really did not have this. Homestead, yes, but it was banked, that momentum was still being pulled down to the track. I think if Mercedes had simulated a dirty airflow test with their car after seeing Porsche flip in 1998 at Road Atlanta, they would have created aero to resolve this issue. These GT1, LMGTP and LMP900 cars were so dangerous because of a lack of aero; the bottoms of these cars were completely flat, that air was doing nothing beneath it. In my opinion, it just goes to show the genius that Toyota had with the TS020 at the time.

Awsome🔥 channel content, insane💥 channel name (in tribute to MB 300 SL), also we have some sort of common thing - our love to autosport.. Impeccable montage. CLK GTR 1997❤ CLK LM 1998❤ CLR 1999❤. This channel has dazzled me completely! P.S. You've got a new subscriber, deserved like. Congrats!🎉

If they just would have brought the C112 a midengine v12 with gullwing doors and minimalist design ?? This would have been a legendary car. This so sad. I love the 300 SL gullwing. And I love Mercedes V12s. Who is responsible for not greenlighting this car, Mercedes could have done something truly special.

Far ahead of it's time. Almost all concept car designs reflect the times they designed in and are easy to date. But the C111-II is timeless. Version II was also equipped with an Anti-lock braking system, air conditioning and a windshield integrated radio antenna. I have seen that car on an exhibition, it is remarkably low

I think the biggest misunderstanding about the car is to put the SLR in the super Sports car category when it is more like Super Grand tourer. They are the Duesenbergs of our time. I expect these cars rise in value just for their usability, visibility. They might never reach the values of a Enzo or Carrera GT for the sake of the numbers produced but the car has and will have it's fans

I'm one of the few that actually liked the 5 speed auto transmission. It's actually suited very well to the torque monster V8. The transmission itself shifts gears quickly, it just doesn't respond well to the paddle shift or buttons like it was in early AMG models. Even modern Mercs in Comfort mode have the habit of not responding to paddle shift exactly when you want it to. There is a half second delay. In short, it's something to get used to. I can only imagine what a modern 9 speed automatic would do to the SLR's performance, Merc use it on V12 Maybach models.
