A tribute to the amazing Silver Arrows that Mercedes-Benz has created at the end of the last century. Three years in a row with three of the most beautiful race cars in history:
1997: CLK GTR, V12 - FIA GT Champion with Bernd Schneider
1998: CLK LM, V8 - FIA GT Champion with Klaus Ludwig and Ricardo Zonta, Le Mans pole but 2x DNF
1999: CLR, V8 - Le Mans 2x DNF

Absolutely magnificent video! Man, racing in the 90s was just in a league of its own! You had F1, WRC, Touring Cars and then this legend of a racing series right here. Great choice of song as well. Goes perfectly with the video and the cars.

These are my dream cars. I have always loved Mercedes-Benz automobiles, so much so that my first car was a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 sedan. I bought it from a farmer's field near Cincinnati, Ohio. It took my Dad and I almost two years to restore the car. It took me over twenty-five years to buy another one. This time, it was a 2009 CLK cabriolet in black with a cream leather interior. I actually bought it for my wife. It took me another year before I found the car I wanted for myself, a 2003 CL 55 AMG. I fell in love with the car when it was the F1 safety car in 2001. I preferred the car with the Kompressor V8 engine. The car is luxurious but also very quick. The best of all worlds for me. I still own and drive my CL 55 AMG every day of my life. Mercedes-Benz the best or nothing at all. Lol!

And bittersweet as hell as a great admirator of the CLR-LM. Yes, an explosion. Of sadness in my heart for such a beautiful, wonderful, performant tecnological wonder that really deserved to take the last 20th Century's LM Crown as much as the TS-020s did. I am not criticizing or undervalutating the BMW LMR but those two were totally on another level. Even over the incredible high limits of the Greatest Race in the World herself.

I am currently writing a book about the evolution of aerodynamics throughout the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but I can't find these fundamental values anywhere! Can you help me? Drag coefficient of the LM is between 0.39 and 0.42, depending on the setup. CLR I’ll have to look up…

Y'all gonna hate me, but imo CLR was a mistake. Terrible design of aero dynamics and air pressure system which led this car to go airborn not just once. And that's real shame, because CLK GTR and CLK LM are engineering masterpieces.
