Any chance you can have a look at the 1977 graville disaster: Australia's worst rail disaster?

The major difference between European high speed services and American is that we spent time testing, back in th 70s, and realised heritage trackbed and rolling stock couldn't cope. Switches are far longer, and curves much gentler: the rolling stock is designed to lean into the curves, and the bogie trucks are designed to hold the train upright in derailment. After a crash when the train, still upright, ploughed into an immovable object, such things were removed as far as possible. Go ask the UK's Institution of Mechanical engineers for the study papers.

19:55 We had a Thunderbolt 1000 non sound chopper type, civil defense siren near where I grew up in Tucson AZ. In the 1960s -70s that thing would go off every Saturday at noon . It could easily be heard 3 miles away. One Saturday I stood next to it at noon. At a few minutes after 12 noon I heard a compressor come on and observed the horn shaped siren atop a high pole begin spinning. The sound volume was incredible and I plugged my ears. As the sirens oscillating pitch reached its low note , I could feel the sound waves vibrating my chest like a drum plate as well as the ground beneath my feet. What a beast that big siren was!

Actually, children probably shouldn't be on the Internet AT ALL. Because while they definitely shouldn't be on KZbin, KZbin Kids is so much more bad, so why we keep these little brats off the Internet entirely? We're not gonna let sick freaks of nature lure children in with fake child content, but we as creators (that aren't luring in children with sick twisted stuff, are just trying toind our own business)are also not responsible for those little brats coming here either. Just keep the little guys off the Internet entirely. That'll do the trick.

It might be allowedc to go 200 kmph on the system, but it's defnitly mot allowed to take your attention from the rails to take a photo of the tachometer, when the train is moving.

Did 4876 not have dynamic brakes, that might’ve slowed the train down easier.

I remember watching a documentary about this crash as a kid, probably shortly after it happened or the investigation finished. All I remembered was a train crash leading to a chemical fog. I could never figure out what the crash was until finding your channel. Thank you. You solved a childhood mystery.
