Have you had any luck changing the Value (0-255) of an LED in the PWM Pins (2-18 or so)? I've added a Number Value of 20 to brighten them up, Test works perfectly, and even after reuploading them, the lights still don't brighten in the sim when Mobiflight is running, yet Test will be brighter... so strange. Cool video, thanks! Lots of useful info.

Please look at my other videos. You don't need to write code. Use an application such as MobiFlight which communicates with the Sim and controls the inputs/outputs of the Arduino, all combined in a nice interface. There's tons of videos on how to do this.

Interact how? These are LEDs and are considered outputs. For this you would need an Interface card, for example, Arduino. Good example here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4K8cnVreJ57ebs

Congratulations on the excellent work with your simulator. After configuring the panels using extra monitors and tablets, how do I not lose the configuration made? Or every time I log into MSFS will I have to configure everything again?
@joshuamarius
@joshuamarius 13 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Most of these simulators suffer from this problem. What I do is configure all of the screens first and make sure they are in place. I then run the Simulator. This works beautifully in X-Plane as it does remember the position; however I have to say I have not tested this enough in MSFS.

I am a big Aviatek fan and a lot of those components look like what comes off their citation sim. did they sell you the parts? I would like to start buying them too as I know they make the best stuff. As an aside I wish they/we could crowdsource a group of people to commission them to make other components ( I sure from a business standpoint they cant take the risk of building/paying for molds/etc if things dont sell but would be great if a largeish group of people would commit to purchasing additional components that they design, build etc Also - what citation plane in xplane do you fly? Im sure it has be be very good software to equal your hardware build
@joshuamarius
@joshuamarius 13 күн бұрын
You can contact Aviatek and let them know of your project to see if they can assist. The Citation Mustang is available by RWDesigns in X-Plane. Unfortunately the Aircraft is a incomplete and has some quirks so you have to modify it quite a bit.

Great Video, thank you! One question: The ALT Gr method only copies the display of my GPS-unit but not the buttons. I was hoping, that I can make the handling of the GPS easier with the touch-screen of my Ipad.... But I can't see any buttons in the extra window - is there a trick?
@joshuamarius
@joshuamarius 13 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment. Unfortunately this is a limitation of the Simulator. They only copy the Screen and not the entire Bezel so that you can use it with Hardware that already has the bezel of the instrument (physically). In order to pop-out what you want, you would have to re-draw the entire Instrument/cockpit area and this gets a bit more complex. I would look into a software like Air Manager.

Awesome work man! Where did you find those master warning and master caution push buttons??? I’ve been looking for those with no luck. You created a badass sim and a great way to keep those skills up when you’re chilling at home. 🤙 I bet flying your sim is a blast! I’m in the process of building a King Air 350i sim but still have a lot of research to do. This is a great intructional video. I am building a complete sim that will be on a wheeled steel platform that I will build a cockpit to replicate my Mooney 201. It will have Garmin G3x, G-5 backup, GTN 750, and G500 autopilot. I want to build my own G3x and GTN 750. I have used Air Manager but it's pretty expensive and I am not sure if it is the best program to drive a G3x or GTN 750. I am not sure on which touch screen to use either. Ipad, galaxy, etc. I am now welding up the frame so I have time to make those decisions.
@joshuamarius
@joshuamarius Ай бұрын
If I build the G3x or the GTN 750 myself, I would not use Air Manager. I would build the Bezel 1 to 1, and then use an Arduino or Leo Bodnar card with MobiFlight to drive it directly in the Simulator. Make sure to review my other videos as I give many ideas for LCDs, encoders, etc. RealSimGear has both of these units if you are interested in reviewing some built panels: realsimgear.com/collections/gps-units

Since they are plug and play, once plugged in and detected in the Simulator, you will see the Axis available for the Hardware. The problem is that this Axis in particular is not created natively in MSFS, so you will have to use an external application such as MobiFlight or even FSUIPC. Many people have asked this and MSFS still has not addressed it. 1) forums.flightsimulator.com/t/axis-for-carburetor-heat/402779/6 2) www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/id1nnb/any_way_to_bind_carb_heat_to_an_button_or_axis_in/

Actually, there's an example at the end of the video where the instrument is popped out and dragged over. It's impossible to review how to add every instrument or panel with so many aircrafts, mods, addons, simulators and software. The video shows you how to use a phone or tablet as an Extra monitor to which you can move anything you want. It's not focused solely on moving instruments over. "Please comment below if you have any questions" means that if you do not know how to do something (which clearly you do not) then ask.

I found lots of cheap LCD screens on Amazon just like the ones shown in your link. My question is what else do I need to get them wired up besides just an LCD along with Air Manager. Nobody ever tells you what else you need.. clearly the LCD screen needs to be connected to some type of Adrouino right? And isn’t there some other circuit board you also need inbeteeen the screen and the adrounio? Please help!
@joshuamarius
@joshuamarius 2 ай бұрын
You are right about the fact that "Nobody ever tells you what else you need" - I had the same struggles and that's why I made al of these videos, to help others. If you review my video, you can see that most of the LCDs have two connections 1) Micro USB for Power 2) HDMI for Video - And I also say "plug and play" which basically means you buy these, plug them in and the OS sees them as an additional monitor. The fact that they are sometimes described as "Arduino LCDs" means they already come with one built in and programmed to use HDMI, but you don't need to program an Arduino to use them; it's already been done for you. The round "Gauge" LCD has a different board but once again, it is powered by a Micro or Mini USB and uses a regular or mini HDMI for video. The best source to purchase many of these us Alibaba. If you have any other questions please let me know.

@@anonharingenamn No. The Leo Bodnar card is a HID plug and play card. MSFS (and every other simulator or program) picks it up as a joystick card, and passes the inputs directly to the simulator; no software needed. Within the Simulator, you then specify the action of the button.
