Just curious. When you waterproofed your Phantom, what did you use, and were you concerned about heat buildup?
@thiethie2-pc5gr14 күн бұрын
i used caulking for the deck (top, front and back). I was a bit concerned with overheating the v3 controllers, however I am not one to ride on ludo mode, and I don't ride aggressively. I set the top speed to 55kmph (which is honestly quite fast already) and my acceleration on 3, and regen braking on 2 (The regen braking is actually quite strong. Even when on 2, I don't think i've ever pushed the regen throttle all the way down). I never had any issues with overheating. For the controller, I did apply heat pad on top and bottom of the controller with heat fins just to ensure proper heat dissipation though.

@@thiethie2-pc5gr Thanks for the info, I hadn’t considered the pads. Did you do any waterproofing of the display, accelerator, regen throttle, or the buttons and wiring on the handlebar?
@thiethie2-pc5gr13 күн бұрын
1. I opened up the deck and applied some dielectric grease on all the wire connection points (optional but I like to be thorough) 2. closed up the deck and sealed it with transparent caulking 3. sealed the front opening as well as the back opening where the motor cables go through the deck with caulking 4. applied some dielectric grease at the motor bearings (where the axle meet the motor casing) and where the motor cables go into the motor casing as well.(re-apply every once in a while too) 5. sprayed just a little bit of white lithium grease inside the throttles 6. fashioned a more robust mudguard at the back. 7. bonus: apply white lithium grease spray on the stem bolt and stick a piece of duck tape to cover the underside of the stem bolt opening to prevent water and mud from splashing on it

Thanks for the videos, these are the perfect kinds for deciding what scooter to buy (and just oddly relaxing). Out of curiosity how many total km have you put into the scooter now, and how much maintenance have you had to do?
@thiethie2-pc5gr2 ай бұрын
Thanks. I have put 3300km on it. This is my second year of ownership. I do use it solely to commute to work. Maintenance-wise I check tire pressure and bolts weekly, I had a flat tire after 2000km (forgot to check tire pressure). Also, I waterproofed the heck out of the scooter and fashioned a better mud guard. ( original mid guard is useless). So I’d say that, going in, you need to know that this scooter is quite maintenance heavy but it’s not that hard if you have the tools. I did some other optional mods to it like, led turn signal light bulb colour swap, stem bolt swap, and brake rotor swap. Hope this helps.

Mine is being shipped in 3 days. I have the '22 Apollo Ghost & I can't afford the brake pads, my god it chews them up. I ride mostly roads & some gravel/dirt paths & have 'winter' tires on my Ghost - and I'd say I average about 50km/h but I slow down around pedestrians (almost to a crawl) & try to decrease my speed around bicycles. I rarely ride below 50v levels & the lowest I've had the battery to is half way. I wonder what difference the larger motors & more batteries will make re: acceleration, top speed, distance, charging? I'm happy with my Ghost's speeds (have them all cranked up to 5 - max, I've only ever used mode/gear 3 - why intentionally limit your OWN top speed, I doubt the purpose or even existence of a gear iteration & with a specific button dedicated. Why not just 'condom mode' (eco) as I call it? Dull everything to stretch out the mileage - but 3 speeds? That's silly. Don't want to go fast, slow down then! You can tell I don't design scooters... Pont Samuel De Champlain - that's a great scooter friendly bridge - you could commute using that bridge almost 10 months of the year, and you'll likely get across before the actual traffic. Doesn't seem to have much of a climb / descent angle. That thing hanging off the right handlebar - is that a light? It almost looks like a radar detector...Also, I noticed you use the front brake more than the regen - I also make really fast stops & when I rode my motorcycle, the front brake was always the most effective. I use both brakes on my Ghost since they're either full of dirt or squeal like a 2 ton pig. That's with clean rotors & new pads. Didn't go with hydraulic brakes because I thought this would be a fun hobby on the weekend, not my daily driver.
@thiethie2-pc5gr Жыл бұрын
thanks for the comment. This bridge is indeed great. almost no people on it, so I can go fast. I do go slower when there is more traffic. Just gotta be more careful and respectful. For the gear, I set it and forget it to gear 3, because (a) I hear Ludo mode is can cause overheating, and I don't wanna risk it for 5km/h more. (b) at higher speed than gear 3, my tire begins to cause vibrations. I never use other "gears" The thing hanging off the handlebar is indeed a blinking light (it is on the heavy side, which is why I let it hang upside down) When I brake, I use a bit of regen and right lever at the same time because I wanna get the muscle memory locked in, so that if there's an emergency, I have my right hand ready because regen alone will not be enough. It's been almost 3 months of riding on that thing and raked up 2000km on it. goes pretty hard. no real issues so far... But i do maintain it regularly.
