Really nice paint ! But i look at your brush, what are this brush ? It's are for me to find good brush for my painting hobby.
@notyourmothershobbies4 күн бұрын
My brushes are everyday trash haha nothing crazy or expensive, and all of them beat up. I mainly use a synthetic small layer brush from citadel and an army painter insane detail brush with only a few hairs left.

Quick question, when you're using contrast /speedpaints, when you do the layering steps and final touches, are these also in contrast /speedpaints, or do you switch to acrylic?
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
No problem! The paint labels I put throughout the video should label if it's "speedpaint" or some other like "layer/base/etc". Basically if it doesn't say speedpaint it's acrylic.

Nice paint jobs. Of course these minis would work great as barbarians in Frostgrave as well!
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
Yeah, I could see these fitting right in! Might call for a set of blue padded armour as well ;p
@claudettemartin77017 күн бұрын
I'm definitely a fan of the green armour/outfit....nice change from the usual leather look 👍 Quite vibrant; well done!

Why do my doors look different??? They have none of the snow or ice on them 😔
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
These doors are from the Frozen Horror expansion, so if you don't have that then you won't have these doors :o On the other hand, if your Frozen Horror expansion didn't come with frozen doors, you might want to call customer support.

Where did you get the doodads on the left side of the mantle?

Ok, the beard has inspired me to possibly try to match it to Saberfang. Maybe thats why its a companion. It thinks the Explorer is another kitty.

for what its worth with the contrast paints, I found when painting horses that if you thin it with the contrast medium 2:1 or 1:1 then apply a couple of coats the blotchy ones go on a lot better. also trying to resist painting mine as Dora

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that next time :o Zargon, no fighting!

That empty hand is crying out for a flaming torch, preferably made with an orc femur dipped in pitch. Nice work x2!

Really nice work. I will paint the bottle red as it reminds me of a health potion. Blue reminds me of mana, but really you models came out great!
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
Yeah, a potion of healing is probably much more fitting haha, I think I was just thinking "water" and went with it. If I painted another one, I'd for sure take that idea :)
@Myrth5354 күн бұрын
@notyourmothershobbies water makes sense as well. Glad you mentioned that, helps open the mind to more possibility and logic.

I think the mouth is a little meh. I'll use voluptous pink instead.

For sure! If you want that tongue/mouth more vibrant, just add colour ;) I could even see a purple tongue working well.

Excellent job! I really love the skin tones you did. Wyldwood is usually to dark unless I thin it. Gargarak's Sewer is a nice warm brown that goes great over off white if you're going for more of an South Asian or Indian skin tone I wonder if the skintone of the Dwarves in Avalon Heroquest correspond to the skintones of the humanoids of the lands above them like Dragon Age, or if it could be a response to pockets of radiation/heat/magic from the planet's core. Dwarves in fantasy almost always live in some kind of diaspora, so the original reason could be lost to the ages
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
It very well could be part of their lore :o Yeah wyldwood can often come out very dark, it's one you gotta watch out for when using. Too much and its basically black, too little and it's too tanned.

This one looks dope...awesome job
@wouterdevos80316 күн бұрын
Great tutorial! It seems that you load your brushes straight from the pot. When I do this, my contrast paints are much darker on the mini even when I try not to overload the brush. I use exactly the same Citadel colours as you. Do you put a lot of water in your brush or do you thin your paints at all? Thank you.
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
Straight in the pot. Ain't nobody got time for that hahaha. Naw, for real though, I load my brush with the amount of water I want, and then mixing on my nail helps control the consistency. Just my lazy habit but it works ;P

Hello, congratulations on the videos. I would like to know what brushes you use to paint (size, type and brand). Thank you so much
@notyourmothershobbies17 күн бұрын
Nothing special heh. A nearly hairless insane detail brush from army painter, a small synthetic layer brush from citadel, a medium drybrush from citadel, and a random brush from a craft shop years ago.
@lazylefthand20 күн бұрын
Can you get a similar effect to contrast paints if you thin down acrylic paint down to like almost a wash? I wanna paint my set but i dont wanna do it with what i have if its gonna look like crap.
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
You can, as long as you use a paint medium and not water :) Experiment on some cheap army men from the dollar store to test the mixes you're looking for.

What a difficult challenge coming this "strange" miniature to life. Congrats my friend.
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
Yeah haha, for something so simple it's a great one to try some tricky free handing or adding points of interest. It could very easily look too boring too! The dilema of the simple mini heh.

Thank you for your video! I just finished the first color scheme (blue) and it looks absolutely amazing! Thank you so much :-D Could you share the color scheme (if possible, the names of the paints) for the second one towards the end of the video, please? I think you used Guilliman Flesh and orange for the skin scheme? Thank you so much for all your work :D
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
It's been awhile but I think it's just gryph charger orange for both, where the lighter tone is simply thinned down.

Congrats man. It's so good to see your channel get the attention it deserves. You've really been a life saver on multiple occations, given many new ideas for painting, and inspired many to pick up the brush, even people like me who used to be terrified of the thought of messing around with the minis.

Congratulations legend. I’m beyond happy for you. You taught me how to paint and I’m thoroughly loving the process. I’d love to see you tackle first light alt sculpts and the new dragon Dude I’d be stoked to see you tackle methods for painting the spirit queen and prophesy of telor see though minis if you’re up for it Have an awesome Christmas and I’m excited to see what you have coming in the new year.
@notyourmothershobbies7 күн бұрын
It's official haha, when First Light comes out we'll be taking a stab at it. Unfortunately I won't be tackling spirit queen and telor. Those minis and quests came in the 2021 pre-order and are already painted. If you want to keep the translucent look, experiment with some of the ideas from the ghost/spirit video :o Thanks for all the well wishes! It's been super fun!
