I was having a freezing problem with my pipes in my old cellar. I had electric heating tape and foam insulation on the pipes but when the electricity went out, all my pipes froze. All that work and money was wasted. A Canadian friend told me about keeping dogs outside in winter, they put a 75 watt lightbulb in the doghouse. It was enough to keep the temperature above freezing. So I tried that in my cellar. It kept my cellars ambient temperature above freezing, enough time for the morning sun. Never had that freezing problem again

Liked this idea. Thank you! My suggestion would be to get the roofing screws that have rubber washers to screw on the roof. They are more expensive than nails but for an area that size the ease of installation plus being less labor intensive is well worth it. Good video!

Soon to be new goat owner here. We are getting 3 babies 1 dwarf Nigerian will be 6 weeks old and two nubians will be 7 weeks, plus one 12 year old dwarf Nigerian. What size shelter would house these 4? Could we go smaller than 8x10? Maybe 6x8? Trying to fit within a flat space in an otherwise very hilly and rocky piece of property. Love your efficient and low cost ideas!

First time raising chickens. I've got 8 black Australorps. Got mine mid June. I finally got my first eggs (5) today. I was LAUGHING when I saw how small they were. They're probably 60% the size of your typical egg. I immediately switched their feed out to laying feed. The timing was actually perfect, since they had just run out of feed and I had to fill up their bucket anyway. I also gave them oyster shells. Thanks for letting us know how long it will take before they start laying normal sized eggs.

Have you had your fodder tested for its nutritional value? It is not worth it in my humble opinion, the seed used its own stored energy to germinate, therefore the Dry Matter content or Energy reduces considerably in order for the plant to germinate. Prove me wrong!!

Thank You Great video. Question I'm starting to raise chickens. At what age do you start feeding your chic's the fodder? Also is that all you feed the full-grown chickens and chic's.

So the manure and bacteria get mixed in the water and spread onto all the eggs. Not a sound idea without a disinfectant rinse.

thanks for the excellent video. I ordered one for the remaining hundred or so hog panel posts left to do. the first 20 ripped my gloves and then my hands to shreds with pliers.

it's more like to pounds of actual feed per tray, around 80% of each tray is water weight, no real nutrition in water, can't call it feed, sorry brother

I just love your girls! How totally exciting! I helped my friend most of her kidding this winter, it's so difficult, but beautiful, too. Especially when the babies stay with mother. What a beautiful, good girl you have there. The does get so affectionate after birth, all that oxytocin, i guess! And God bless those kids!!! I love Saanens, one of my boys is 25% saanen, he's huge, and gorgeous... Thank you so much for sharing!

I have pied (mostly white, some brown parts) and brown Chinese geese. I much prefer the white bodied ones as they are easier to spot out on pasture or in our pond.

After washing, did you use anything to sterilize them? The water that "washes" the eggs transferred the poo in the water to all the eggs. So what appears to be clean is not. I have heard that washing with Hydrogen peroxide will kill most all the bacteria on a chicken egg. Spraying a solution of Hydrogen peroxide on the washed eggs would as well. I have heard this is what large producers do to their eggs. ...your thoughts?

Not fond of the gun thing in the beginning, can't relate that to the video. The video was sorta quick, I didn't understand what a couple comments were but it was still pretty good. Use all the waste water in your garden.

He would have probably been better to have the boards on the top roof turn sideways as you would have more structural integrity out of the boards and it will prevent the roof from sagging eventually. Just a thought but great video! Thanks!
