you can survive without any antivirus if you install windows server 2003 r2 64 bit, i installed it on my old laptop which has support for it and installed drivers + supermium and just browsed the web without any interruptions or catch any virus without doing anything, just like windows 10, it has a strong firewall that protects any worms, trojans, malwares exc. cuz its server but it still has issues running few programs giving errors because they arent "win32 applications" or just has missing files and mostly the least os they support is vista so even though windows 2003 server r2 64 bit is a good alternative, i recommend upgrading to atleast vista

A few quick tips: 1. Legacy Update replaces the need for SP4, as the SP4 installer just installs a load of existing Microsoft updates that legacy update already has. 2. 7-zip is free and better than WinRAR, and it works fine on XP. 3. WACUP is an unofficial fork of Winamp with new features and updates, which might be a good replacement for Winamp. 4. LibreOffice is a fork of OpenOffice that's generally become the de-facto standard for open source office suites, and it works on XP too. (OpenOffice is pretty dead now) 5. It's possible to get a more recent version of Java and Minecraft to run. Also, it might be better to use Titan Launcher, an unofficial fork of the classic (java-based) minecraft launcher 1.6.93. 6. Discord web works fine with supermium, no need for an unofficial client. 7. VirtualBox 5.2.44 or VMWare Workstation 10 should work fine on XP (later versions may also work but they will require XP x64 as these are the final versions to support XP x86) 8. Adobe Creative Suite 6 supports Windows XP, which is a much newer version, being released in 2012 (compared to Premiere Pro 2.0, released in 2006). It was the final one-time purchase version of the adobe suite, and as such, many people still use it today! 9. GIMP 2.8.22 (released in 2017) works on XP, which is a much more recent image editor than the old version of Paint.NET you used (released in 2013)

Nice to see Discord Messenger being used here. iProgramInCpp, the developer, has done a great job easing Discord usage on older Windows versions. (Besides, while lacking some features, it is more lightweight than the actual Electron-based Discord)
