This model has been recalled. I got a notification from Amazon requesting to stop using immediately and confirm destroy for a full refund. Recall states unit catches fire and causes batteries to ignite. 160 reported incidents with some injuries and property damage.

@ Triple Helix Robotics I just got the same charger and when I charge my Li-Ion 2S 500mAh 7.4v battery it doesn’t charge to the full 500mAh only around the 350mAh, is this normal? Could it be that there’s already about 200mAh in the battery before I charge it?

That's great if all you ever charge is Lipos or LiIo. What about the NIMH Receiver packs?

I have this charger and it has been working great for my current array of 6 RC batteries. I only have one question, when the charge starts, there's a number in the bottom right corner that increases. I lost my manual and I can't seem to find a manual online. What does that number indicate? I'm hoping that's not something like how much power it's put into the battery since my 6500mah batteries only got to 3300 displayed in that area. I know manufacturers misrepresent capacity, and that LiPo batteries will not fully discharge due to risk of fire.

We had a similar issue last year where our pump would not turn on. We ended up replacing the pneumatic hub and it worked. We never ended up looking into though. I suspect it may be the same issue.

The arm counterbalancing is neat. :^)

Thanks! We normally counterbalance our mechanisms so the actuators don't fight gravity, only inertia. This means smaller, lighter actuators and/or faster movements.

Is this your final design or not? If it is how does it score in speaker?
@TripleHelix2363
@TripleHelix2363 6 ай бұрын
It is not. Our robot changes continuously over the season. During our game analysis we build a prioritized list of robot scoring actions based on how we decide to play the game. We work down this list as resources allow. As scoring mechanisms come online, we decide if time is better spent refining those mechanisms or moving to the next thing on the list. We almost never reach the bottom of the list. We strive to have our bot mostly built the day after President's Day, and do a reveal video of it in that state. But, it never stops evolving. We often make drastic changes between competitions in response to how we perform and how we think we can improve.

What was the reason behind using pneumatics instead of having the arm rotate using motors? would be faster and more consistent no?
@TripleHelix2363
@TripleHelix2363 6 ай бұрын
No. The arm moves between 2 positions with hardstops. This is ideal for pneumatic cylinders. Way simpler for the programmers to control. Speed is a function of flow and can be tuned with flow restrictors, high capacity flow valves, and cylinder sizing. This is iteration 1, and will get much faster as we refine things.

Is there a specific reason you are not using spendable choser?
@TripleHelix2363
@TripleHelix2363 Жыл бұрын
Yes, we've had occasional blips with sendablechooser in the past that has cost us matches. A set of physical switches on the robot, plus the LED feedback, lets the entire team feel empowered to check that our auto mode is correct before the match, not just the person who is setting up the driver station. We believe this increases the feeling of ownership over this critical setting and produces a more reliable human-robot system.

Nice! Our season ended today (Awesome job to Wolverines, Robocats, and Aces High from NE District!) but we will definitely use these channels in the future! This was our 14th season but the first time we've ever attempted to use LEDs at all! A learning experience for us but they definitely could use the extra protection. Excellent video, as always!

Our team is one of the slowest in terms of building the robot. The mechanical subteam hasn't even started building, and the electrical is done with their electrical board. And ultimately, they don't give the driver enough time to practice driving, and they always end up damaging the robot during completion because of the lack of practice on the robot.
@TripleHelix2363
@TripleHelix2363 Жыл бұрын
A simple robot quickly beats the perfect robot that's done just in time. Our process is to start simple and continually add improvements. We might not have the fanciest bot out there, but our drive team and programmers get tons of time with the bot. We purposefully target week 1 competitions knowing our experience gives us an edge over teams who try to do it all.
