The well-written B & W noir films are far better than the silly splatter pix shown today.

So true most of these have been shown on Turner Classic Movies
@jonathanlippman51835 сағат бұрын
this is ridiculous most of these films are hardly underrated or hidden they are clearly popular and beloved, at least most of them right up there with any other film you can mention from the era

Errol Flynn wasn't your typical Hollywood type. He was born in Tasmania, the island state to the south of Australia. At a young age Flynn left home and sailed up the east coast of Australia until he got to Papua New Guinea. He spent time working in labouring roles there and spent time with the natives. It was during this time Flynn contracted malaria and he never shook it off for the rest of his life. I was surprised that this report didn't mention that the autopsy had said that his insides were that of an 80 year old man because of his ongoing problems with malaria. It probably played a big part in his other health issues.

Alicia Cook, Jr? So why did you have scenes with Barbara Stanwyck😊?

Interesting that you have James Dean on this list. James Dean passed away in a car wreck so that's what ended his career. That had nothing to do with alcohol considering this video is called Golden Age Stars Ruined By Alcohol

Lupe took the pills, but, had eaten a spicy Mexican meal and it worked against the pills and made her leap up off her bed to vomit, but, had vomitted on the tiles and slipped head first into her toilet and drowned.... That WAS the story, apparently debunked, but, I don't know.....

Hattie McDaniel was so far from being Biracial that the inclusion of her in this story cancels the whole storyline !!!!!!.
@janiaburns7662Күн бұрын
This documentary is not titled correctly. . It is not all about 30 biracial old Hollywood entertainers but includes multi-racial and non biracial individuals. For example, Lena Horne and Dorothy Dandridge were both born to two black parents, not to a biracial couple.

I couldn't absolutely swear to it, but I recall reading that Robert Taylor's over thirty years under contract to the same studio (MGM) is a record. By the way, he's seen here in a couple of clips from "Escape" and "Her carboard lover" with the great Norma Shearer (two of Miss Shearer's last three films.)

Charlie Farrell had a fair recognition for his TV work in the 1950s. If I recall correctly, he played the father character in a show titled My Little Margie, which was one of the most popular shows in the mid to late 1950s. I was ten or so at the time, but I recognized him immediately.
@willyboy35812 күн бұрын
Me, too, Randall. I seem to recall that he had each episode's kiss-off line: "Well, heh-heh, that's my little Margie." Farrell was another one of those who had the sense to buy real estate in Palm Springs back in the 20s and 30s. One of his holdings became, I believe, the exclusive Racquet Club of Palm Springs.

Katharine Hepburn was only twelve years younger than Spencer Tracy as was Gary Cooper and Veronique Balfe also James Stewart and Gloria Maclean and Gene Kelly and Betsy Blair was not that much to be on this list. Hitchcock and Alma Reville only seven years. Elvis and Pricilla only ten years. Mickey Rooney and Ava Gardner only two years At least twenty years to be on the list as a scandalous age gap

There was an Elisha Cook Jr who was an actor beginning in the late 1920's but the woman you list as "Alicia Cook Jr" is actually Barbara Stanwyck. Nice try.
@randallstewart12242 күн бұрын
Right. The piece was referenced to Cook (male), but the opening film clips were of Barbara Stanwyck. I assume the third woman appearing in the later clips was Marsh, as I know nothing about her.
