Mayer was always very devoted, loving, tolerant etc of Judy Garland from the very beginning. He was always in awe and overwhelmed by her limitless unworldly talent. He always understood her problems supporting and defending her to the upper owners and productive teams in New York who were constantly upset and complaining about her many delays. They were always eager to write her off in spite of her being their biggest star who was always bringing in millions from each of her many movies. (This was well over $40 some odd millions from 1936 to 1950 when the upper corporate guys in New York fired her!) Mayer was in compete shock when they fired Judy. He told her that if they would do that to her, then they would even do that to him. They actually did this to him a year later. Judy Garland was the first to go. June Allyson said that very soon they all lost their jobs.

The idea and the narrative are good. But the images...Why so many photos of Marilyn Monroe? she never worked at MGM , she was a Fox star ! and so many olhers are not MGM staff. And this is strange because are hundrerds of photos shorts, clips of MGM. NO need to do these mistakes. A more careful research would be very good for this documentary.. Think about all these young people who know nothing about he subject. They can learn a lot with both narrative and right images

Canadian American? Mayer was born in Russia, in what is now Ukraine. The family emigrated to Canada when he was a child.
