The fact that a spin off has more side quest and better writing than half of the franchise, is mind blowing.

In regards to arkham knight, there's a positive with having the side content kinda off the main storyline is that you can beat the main campaign, continue to finish up the side content and it doesn't feel disconnected. It doesn't conflict with what you just finished. And realistically just cause a couple of villains have some huge plot going on, that doesn't mean the rest of them are just gonna sit inside for the night. Makes the world outside of the story feel WAY more alive and real. The likelihood of ALL the villains working together isn't plausible all in this scenario.

I genuinely feel like the entire reason that Burial at Sea exists is an overcorrection to criticisms of the base game. "Oh my god Fitzroy turned into a monster!" make her a martyr "There's no way she killed all the bookers/comstocks" show us Elizabeth killing literally the last one "Elizabeth is too strong/nice!" turn her into a monster and kill her Throw in rapture for nostalgia/hype and you get burial at sea. It's basically just an attempt at 'rewriting history' in a fairly literal sense to try to "answer" criticisms of the base game after the fact. And it's *really really really* fucking bad at it.

I didn't like the 2 guns system, and they have the nerve to asked you to buy upgrades for randomly dropped guns. The random gears system are some time helpful or useless, plus wearing some dumb ass hat and shoes to altered your passives doesn't fit in the world as Gene Tonic was.

There is some good fun and if you act like it’s 2005 it’s decent, 7.5 but multiplayer is bad. I just wanted more combat and weapons because that is really fun in this game. Titty city is great though, I like to just explore and find ego boosts.

Your thoughts of this feeling off. I don’t feel them in this game Though Mario & Rabbids® Sparks of Hope a game bigger and more ambitious than the original. With tons more freedom and budget with the developers. It’s a game that has a lot of love and passion in it. But It just feels off. It doesn’t live up to the original for me. And it’s something hard to explain but it’s just not the same even though they made everything bigger and better.

I think so. I'm a horror whimp, so 1 and 2 weren't really my thing, though there was lots to love about them, but this actually had the perfect blend of a bunch of things I like with an interesting plot and characters. I understand they're going back to or doing a similar thing to Rapture for BS 4, so I'll probably end you watching a playthrough.

To be fair you are exactly the new audience irrational games wanted that's why the formula drastically changed, I get the idea as you can see with sales numbers it was great but I miss the horror atmosphere of B1 and B2 💪🏻👔
@TheREALSimagination5 күн бұрын
@@Guyinthetie I don't mind being in that camp, but I don't really see how I managed to have them change the entire formula when I played the first two games, put them to rest and never spoke anything of the franchise ever again until finishing Infinite. I absolutely agree about the atmosphere of 1 and 2. Frankly, it and the setting are my favorite parts about them. I just resonated more with Infinite. Maybe because the traversal system was so fun. And Elizabeth's whole thing. I'm seriously impressed with what they accomplished with her, both with her arc, voice-acting, the technical stuff., etc. I can see why her programmers said she was the hardest part of the job and the worst part of the experience.

@@Guyinthetie I’m reminded of the Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness. (((Spoiler))) But when Wanda went and got two kids from another reality, they were like “Hell no, we don’t know you crazy lady”. Because you can’t just grab something or someone from another reality without consequences. When I first played Infinite, I thought they were going to hide out in the different reality undercover. That way you can have that illusion of choice. Tell the truth and reveal yourself or lie and try to blend in.

I'm with ya on the rankings, though I tend to ping-pong around between 1 and 2. 1's Narrative is more cohesive but 2 was definitely fun and I do like the idea of seeing how people pick up the pieces when society crumbles. Whereas Infinite feels more like fan-fiction. An overpowered main character that jumped between worlds to solve problems and ends up being the catalyst to everything that came before.

It would probably do much better if it wasn't bioshock. It's hard to rate the game based on the previous titles, especially bioshock 1 imo. Those games had a completely different atmosphere. The art style and world felt more like Fable + FPS , i can see some people enjoying it but i couldn't get invested in it. It's almost like back when doom 3 released, it gained a ton of mixed opinions but that game did well enough for what it wanted to be to be successful.

I think the game was a failure. The gameplay is less interesting; the world and environments are less interesting; the characters are less interesting; the themes are infinitely less explored; and the story is less interesting. Only Elizabeth works. I don't think the story makes sense. But even if it did work properly with the layered realities - as some believe it to, and maybe it is such a clever plot that I still don't understand it - I still don't think it'd be any good, because it says nothing despite acting otherwise. At best, it says to accept your moral failings, and to not turn to religion to try and absolve yourself. But most people haven't committed crimes against humanity, like Booker has. Nationalism; racism; prejudice; revolution; and fanatical religion, are simply not explored beyond showing the surface. All of that said, I have to respect the ambition. They clearly sincerely tried, and it's fine as a regular FPS game. It was just meant to be much more.

@i_am_ergo7 күн бұрын
There are only two ways to do a multiverse/time travel story: you either use a tiny dash of multiversal/time travel fuckery to nudge your story in an interesting direction and stay grounded 95% of the time OR you go in balls deep and, without realizing it, *always* fuck up your world, your story and your characters with infinite paradoxes, non sequiturs and deus ex machinas. Nothing matters, nothing makes sense and nothing could even theoretically stick. Ken Levine made a huge mistake when he decided to make Infinite a multiverse story, and then an even bigger one, when he decided to drag the first two games into that clusterfuck. You hit the nail on the head when you said it was too video game-y, Tie. It was a muddled, confusing spectacle with mysteries and ghosts, and parallel worlds, and a hot cartoony sidekick. Bleh. You're also not alone in liking the sequel more than the original. I do too. BS2's plot may be weaker, but the narrative and the gameplay were considerably refined and improved over BS1. Say, 8.5/10 vs 8/10. And Infinite was a mere 5/10 in my book, maybe a 5.5/10. It looked nice and it SOUNDED amazing (I mean, seriously, the sound design in Infinite was godlike), but it was waaaay to high on its own farts.
