Saying that ds1 has a bad second half has to be the biggest internet hoax/collective hallucination I've ever seen

Nothing really tops Anor Londo half way through tho, and running into 30 dragon butts is kinda weird
@coolkid99672 ай бұрын
The second half had enough serious problems that I can understand the sentiment. If you consider DLC though, it’s really the second third of the game that’s bad. Tomb of the Giants, Lost Izalith, and New Londo Ruins, and Demon Ruins kinda suck imo. Lost Izalith is the worst by far, New Londo is the best of the worst due to the creepy vibe and 4 kings ( the ghosts suck though). They just can’t compare with Undead Burg, or Anor Londo. They are of substantially lower quality. Similarly, they are worse than every DLC area.

It felt like going back. To the NES days. Where everything was tough. Most don't understand that era of games. Mega Man, Castlevanias, Double Dragons, etc. Dark Souls is a return to what games were. That's why I love it. Tough but fair.

One thing that's important to note about the second half was that just..... there was budget and time constraint issue. It's not much the devs stopped trying but rather they didn't had much of a choice and had to rush, so some area's like the demon ruins and especially bed of chaos ended up pretty terribly.
@Guyinthetie2 ай бұрын
It does heavily feel rushed, though the DLC and the painted world do help with the second half being manageable like i said people call it boring but I'd say just luke warm 💪🏻👔

I feel Gwyn being underwhelming is intentional. He's a god who turned hollow desperately clinging to the age of fire only to be taken out by a normal undead. A bit ironic since he created the darksign to keep undead weak

Question: Do I really need to play DS1 and 2 to play DS3? the graphics are not doing it for me on the 1st 2. Coming from Bloodborne, my very first Soulsborne, I fell in love with the eeriness and the mystery of the world and the lore of it. I love it, trying to plat it now. But going back to DS, I already have a DS3 copy..So do I need to play the first 2? what's your honest opinion?
@Guyinthetie2 ай бұрын
You don't NEED to play them first but there are nods to the previous titles in DS3, so it just down to of you want that stuff to go over your head or not But I wouldn't say you need to play them at all 💪🏻👔
@aliyan2472 ай бұрын
This game is very weird, I played this game at the start of 2023 and absolutely hated it for the first 60 hrs where majority of it was spent on not know where to go and wandering around aimlessly to find the second bell of awakening and getting into anor londo castle but as soon as I defeated O&S for the first time after god knows how many tries, the game finally clicked for me and I finished the second half(dlc included) in 20 hrs. Now I've done many playthough of this game that are less than a quarter of the total time that took me to finish it at first and now it is one of my favorite games of all time. So do I recommend this game as your first souls game, if you have the patience and can deal with the bs it throws on you then yes, but if not then play the other games since the start is quite hard to get pass through without guidance
@Guyinthetie2 ай бұрын
It's really hard to recommend to gamers who haven't played titles like this nowadays but it is a classic so if you can look past it worts and all it's definitely worth the time to learn 💪🏻👔

16:51 you’re saying this from someone with years of experience on the game potentially skewing your views, a new player it’d take awhile to realize the meta for bosses and would just try to learn their attacks or ways to counter them, giving them the hard time, especially when the series was new and nobody knew about it or players coming from Bloodborne after where that doesn’t fly, you’ve got to think about it or hear about it before exploiting it
@Guyinthetie2 ай бұрын
Won't deny it seems more arbitrary for me having played the game a few times but I do feel the game sets you up in the first fight with the asylum demon to focus the back weak spot and it's a trend with most the bosses after 💪🏻👔

@@GuyinthetieI played dark souls after having beat dark souls 3 and played part of dark souls 2. The first dark souls has some of the biggest level road blocks in the form of blightown, sens fortress and the silver kniight archers in anor londo. Everything else in the game isn't too much of an ordeal for first time playthroughs but these three areas definitely lived up to their reputations (though only anor londo keeps it's challenge on repeat playthroughs dye to the master key blightown skip and the fact that you will have the sens fortress timing seared into your brain after the first time). Though the npc questlines are awkward but what souls game has intuitive questlines?

The series didn't go mainstream until * Names the least selling game of them all * P.s. Yes sales don't have to do anything with quality but IMO what happened between DS1 and III (and even until Elden Ring)was that a lot knew the games existed but didn't play it themselves.

Great video. I love DS1. As someone that started on Elden Ring, then after played DS1 I have to disagree about the clunkyness, its not that bad. I found DS2 way more clunkier and after a few hours of DS2 I quit playing cause it didnt play like DS1 (backstabs and parries felt weird, hit boxes are weird, movement is weird). Playing DS1 after Elden Ring was a smooth transition for me personally. I also found the world as magical and engaging as Elden Ring (just not as epic).
