I want a good disk brake lit that i can keep the wide 5 pattern. I've got my original polished/chrome 5 spoke Empis I wanna keep. I've been taking care of them since I got the car on the early 90's

3" narrowed? How heavy did it make the steering?

@@volkstroke I just installed a 2 inch narrowed beam. I don't know if it's the caster shims or the new stiff ass ball joints but it steers way heavier.

I could pull my engine out of my bug in 15-mins. And even though i haven touched one in 40-years I cat tell you in one sentence how to. 4-each 17mm bellhousing bolts, fuel line, throttle cable, coil wire and heater ducks, pull and she's out.

Retaining the "Dog house" oil cooler is the best move you made. I live in the desert with a 2.2l pushing my 65' sedan with the stock dog house oil cooler and have had ZERO issues with overheating and it reaches 118+ here in the summer. Stay away from any chrome engine tin, and with tight engine compartment seals, and that engine will serve you well. Nice lookin engine!🤠👍

I lived in Las Vegas and we took out baja bugs with just doghouse coolers and never got any hotter than guys with coolers (did a test one year with temp gauges on our sensor ports). Only time I ever got hot I had a belt shred. Not enough to stop my alt but slowed the fan.

@chadgriffith40254 күн бұрын
@volkstroke oh for sure! It took 2 years, an enormous amount of trial and error, and a lot of money (roughly $10,000) to get there. The "Golden Child" was the third complete engine setup that I tried. I started with an 1835cc quad carb turbo, polished dual port heads mild cam and got like 140. Then I went 2270 same setup, cleared 180 or so. The Golden Child was a 2330, radical cam, tuned fuel injection, custom heads, custom valves, etc and we got that insane 230, but to be totally honest, we MAY have hit 230 like one time and I just decided that was the number but really, consistently, she was making 215 220 and let me tell you, it was INSANE. With a short shift kit, phase one clutch kit, modified vanagon axles, I could barely control the damn thing lol aaaaaand......eventually totaled it lol. I've got kids so now it's a '68 Autostik making 70hp lol and she's a blast!
