I used to do shipping for a small business and we shipped FedEx. They sold items through retailers who would get orders and have us ship straight to their customer. Numerous times a year a retailer would realize they gave us a old/wrong address and need to redirect a package. Anyone with a FedEx shipping account has a direct number to a real human CS rep, they would flag the package to have a new label put on it to redirect the package to the correct address, it costs like $10 to do that and takes like 5 minutes on the phone.

As someone who is a General Contractor that orders materials from all parts of the nation. I would say about 90% of the time I go through the same shtick with these corporations. Especially the note taking and then rehashing the entire situation again. Being proactive on my end is the only way to see results. Its exhausting. Especially when i could be working in the field, but instead on the phone all day long.

Yeah, it'd be nice if we actually lived in a society where you could count on someone who received someone else's expensive items by mistake to actually do the right thing and lift a finger to return them to their owner. Absolutely ridiculous. As much as CGC is to blame here, the people who quietly accepted these books without saying a word are part of the story as well. SMH.

Peice of af advice for everyone who encounter things like this, always document the exact conversation with CGC with an immediate follow-up email including time day and person you spoke to. It helps expedite things

I got into CGC books because it seemed like the "it" thing for graded books. I have since seen tons of major problems with CGC. Swapping, stealing, bending, losing, up-grading old books magically out of nowhere, etc etc. I own 1, yes only 1, CBCS graded book and to be honest... the slab is superior in my personal opinion... the 9.8 graded book looks better than some of the 9.8 books I own from CGC... I feel like a ton of rich collectors forced the resale market into the direction they wanted.... and a ton of sheep flocked to it... I am thinking - screw resale value, I am gonna go with CBCS for awhile and save the money on books with the same grade AND a better description on the label AND the better quality slab (with no bent books!) ......did I mention the CBCS inner well doesn't smash around like CGC inner wells??? Oh... that too. CGC is like a joke to us poor folk now. You rich people can keep your bent 9.8s and mislabeled books and swapped books, etc etc. 🤣

CGC list an entire box of my silver age Marvel grails that were hand delivered at a Shortboxed live con. $250,000 of books gone but insured for only ~$142,000. Hopefully will get a check from their under writer one day. 😢

They lost mine too, then compensated me for the value and like 6 months later found them and finally shipped them to me. They were there like 2 years total which especially sucked because I had gotten them signed at a convention.

Try PGX. I recently sent a few books to PGX and was very happy with the product. Nice, clean slabs, good pricing and friendly communications. A good change from CGC.

Sent Wolverine 1 limited in for anniversary signing. They put a the wrong book in the case for my book (label was correct, mines a NS, this wasn't). They can't find mine and has been a cluster to get taken care of. Dealt w the same customer service as CBI. So many calls, emails. Ridiculous

Well that sucks that this happened. Glad you got a resolution that per your description seems ok if you factor in the time and effort of selling the books. As far as CGC Customer Service helping in this kind of situation it's so lacking. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and you have to be your own advocate in some situations....and you are doing these things and it doesn't seem to help much. I feel your frustration. CGC needs a better way to handle situations like this. Sadly based on their track record of handling other CGC issues it probably won't happen anytime soon. Maybe if several peops from the collecting community could get hired at CGC they could do some fix it ops to make changes happen internally. Tthat's about the only thing I can think of that would be helpful.

Had this happened to 2 out of 3 in-house signature series i submitted. Got back 2 with an extra signature and a green lable in 9.2's for writing on the cover. I was super confused cause no way in hell would I submit an already signed book before the JSA merge. I'm pretty convinced i got a high grade on my original submission, and someone swapped it out, thinking I would be happy with the extra signature. Definitely some shady practices with no repercussions and an honor system in place. They gave me credit, which was also lame cause I dont want to keep submitting after that experience.

I sent in two silver age books to be pressed and graded that was in the first week of July it has been sitting at grading for 45 days with no movement I'm sure reversion jumped right back into those books LOL. I called cgc they say they have no control of when books will be graded. Lord have mercy learn my lesson everything will be fast tracked honestly didn't think it would take this long Leslie I got a submission back an eternals book that looks like it has Peyronie's disease WTF banana book😅😅😅

I sold an X-Men 1 for around 10k a few months ago using UPS Next Day Air fully insured. They sent the damn thing to Canada! This has never happened to me before. Of course it couldn't have been a crappy low value comic but no it was one of the most expensive comics I've sold. Thankfully a few days later the found it and finally delivered it to the customer. I think I'm done with the comic book business.

It should tell you the notes for the label when you add book to submission. Further there should be a “request note” button for every submission.

But yet they are still the 'gold standard' and everyone will continue to work with them regardless of their plethora or issues...All the 'influencers' and social media community members will continue to support them even though they are a trough of content to call them out on their sh*t....If folks want the industry to change, they need to push the change themselves and start the shift away...but it will never happen. the community will die on the hill that CGC sells for more, but that can shift as well by changing buyer and seller behavior...Let's keep calling out CGC for their issues then continue to send them more books right away...

He's a dealer. Facts! Has an auction house and sells books weekly on his site. He has the voice and capital to pivot away from CGC and yet stays with the company to submit 100s of books monthly.
