Isn't the number that you base the calculations on the maximum static load for the pads instead of some range of operation? If I understand this correctly, you are using the smallest amount of sylomer that will absorb the force equal to your weight plus the weight of the drumset, and to absorb all of the stomping on the pedals you would need more sylomer.

nice and with a clear explanation, thx! BUT..., one thing isn't clear to me; does it matter how much Watt the resistor has to be? (3W, 10W,...???)

Why not use a colored front head and forget about the cover plate? It seems completely unnecessary to me.

Those feet are built into Roland's kick pedal and hi-hat stand. Problem is, they move on a non-carpeted floor. I have to brace both of mine against the drum rack which is a bit inconvenient.

During 11/2024, mine went inop. Boiled the rubber hammer for 5 mins, let it sit there for 5 extra mins, dried it off, put it back in and it worked fine. YAY. i really needed this to work.🙂

I live on the 1st floor and have trouble with the neighbor on the 2nd floor. No trouble with any other neighbor on any other floor. Have added noise reduction to the pedals and on the walls, but she says it doesn't make any change to the noise level. What do I do? 😢

Works with Alesis Surge. I couldn't obtain 1/4watt 100kohm resistors, so used 1/2watt in it's place, works without any issues.

Hi! First off, congrats on your channel, lots of cool material! I'm new to edrums, I've been testing my kit on a buddy of mine's home studio, we could not have SP3 to sound on his audio interface's monitor headphones. The setup is: Alesis Nitro Max midi USB to a Windows laptop, Focusrite Scarlet Solo 4th gen. ED2, Addictive Drums, BFD player all work straight away. We cannot find any difference in the audio/midi setup that might cause this, please help.

What makes no sense is, even with a mono pad, if you connect that to the stereo aux of the Roland td-17, using a mono cable - that kills your sensitivity. Shorting that plus out kills your sensitivity. Even with a mono pad, like the PDX-6a, you lose sensitivity just by using mono cables. I wonder if you really should be using stereo plugs on these splitters because shorting the cable out looks like that causes the issues.

6 years later, I can say the FD-9 pedal is crap. Its NOT rock solid. Its not even ok. You cannot really get the mid positions. You can get open or closed and its almost random if you can get the mid amount you want. It can do the middle, but it wont do it in any way that is usable.

Incorrect. I have been using a td-6 from 1999, and on ALL the dual inputs I can use a single splitter to get 2 pads, so there

I’ve been a drummer for 16 years. I learned on a Roland TD9. I’ve had my acoustic for these 16 years, but haven’t been able to buy an e-kit until now. I’m undecided about the TD17KVX vs the DTX 8.

The aluminum disc is an unnecessary expense. You can use alumimum U Channel. I converted 4 piece ludwig set into an 8 piece electronic kit by cutting the shells in half. I use it with a Roland TD-12 and TD-8 and it works perfectly. If you have two zones like a head piezo and a rim piezo the head piezo needs to float on some foam, I mounted the piezo to a small square aluminum plate, glued the cone to that. That was mounted with two vibration dampening stand-offs to the U channel. No problems.

A good electronic drum set versus a simple acoustic set. The electronic is better. You have to put serious money into acoustic to make sound good. If you use triggers, hybrid, acoustic electronic that is the best sound

I was also suffering from the same problem. I had to press hard with my left leg to completely silence the ringing sound. This situation both prevented me from working comfortably and strained my leg. Since silicone rubber is exposed to pressure, its volume shrinks over time and it cannot apply sufficient pressure to the pressure sensor. To fix the problem, the silicone rubber needs to be replaced. I did a little research and when I saw that a silicone part that did not even cost 1 dollar was sold for about 30 dollars on the internet, I found the solution myself without spending any money. I glued a 2mm thick plastic silicone layer to the end of the metal pedal that puts pressure on the silicone part and the problem was solved. Although heating and petroleum jelly may make the silicone work temporarily, it does not work in the long term. will return to its old self again..The next thing to do is to wash the very dirty white mesh tom and snare drum heads of my roland with laundry detergent and make them white as the first day. But damn, I don't understand why they used screws that are nowhere to be found instead of the familiar allen screws. I'll have to buy a drum key.
