The red urethane type from EMPI shattered like glass, after 4 months, on my Thing

I have one more question. I noticed you aren’t putting the rubber gasket between the bulb and ring. Is it necessary with LED lights? Because for the life of me I couldn’t get it to fit with the 3 prongs on bulb. Also I didn’t see you ground the parking light. I assume one must do that.

Nitrocross still has a class of Beetles racing as of at least the 2023 season.

Is there any way to reposition the distributor to make it easier to close the clips?

However just changing the cap would make the wires a tangled mess.
@LjblossomКүн бұрын
@@classicvwbugs no, the entire thing needs to be rotated 45 degrees so I can get to both clips. It is just too hard to reattach the clip that is behind it.

Preparing to learn more and scare the poorbeetle…. Following the wires from the plugs, number one on the distributor is not near the notch but is to the left maybe at 7 on a clock face. It is most inconvenient trying to get the clips back on as one is on the back (I know Muir said it was font but back to me). The pulley has two notches and the one to the right has the number 1/32 engraved by it. When I line up with the notch to the left, the rotor points to the #1 wire. Maybe just label them on the distributor cap and live with it? I also heard someone else say that if I adjust the points then I must retime so do points first?

Back in the mid 70's I had a 70 Beetle that was built for racing the Autocross or Jim Kana as we all used to call it. It was lowered. Had a big 3/4 inch sway bar in front and a 1/2 inch sway bar in back. 1600 cc with a stock cam and ratio rockers from EMPI. Heads were fly-cut 60 thou for more compression. Ran a Zenith 32 two barrel on it And had the tubular headers. High volume oil pump too. Flywheel was lightened as well with competition clutch! That thing really ran great!! It would bury the speedo at 90 and keep on accelerating. Oh I ran Koni shocks all the way around and Semperit radial tires on it too. It was really a fun car to drive. Wish I still had it!!

As someone building a GSR tribute out of a 74 Super. this video is very appreciated. I’ve done autocross and taken on Porsche 912’s and been competitive if not beaten their times. These cars respond very well to suspension and brake upgrades and can hang with many sports cars of the era especially on backroads.

Well when you drive the car, air cleaner is on, so it would most likely be best to adjust with it on.

I was just talking to one of the service writers at my local vintage VW shop. I was telling him that i wanted to improve the handling of my ‘64 electric Beetle. He was explaining to me that they never handled well and that they guys in the shop thought my Bug drove fine. I told him that it wasn’t “nimble”, but a little ponderous in turns and the steering was really heavy. I told him what modifications Zelectric in San Diego makes tho their Bugs so they handle the additional power better. He still wasn’t sure handling could be improved.

Racing Beetles! The Surprising History of VW Beetles in Motorsports Your video for this week Volks! Racing Beetles! The Surprising History of VW Beetles in Motorsports Now I particularly have not been into VW Beetle Racing, but man it has such a following. It is crazy to see Beetles beat even the most high end racing cars. When you see a little car like a bug go up against a muscle car and blow the doors off of that Vette or Camaro, it truly is a sight to see. Hope you guys like the video!

Hey Chris... as always thanks for the update of the current market impact for the Classic VW Beetle and for the great job you do on FB. I had the pleasure of meeting you, your Dad and your VW gang in Congers at one of the "Bugs and Coffee" gatherings at the shop in 2017. At the time I was driving my much loved but rust compromised 1968 Beetle named Francis... which handled the 9+ hour roundtrip from Media, PA with ease. Sharing on your topic... I sold it for $7,500.00 on consignment from Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, PA earlier this year... recognizing this price reflected a bargain for whom ever wanted to take on the car's issues. I initially had plans to have it restored locally... but an economic COVID early retirement financially put a halt to my plans. Instead I switched gears literally... and I am currently the owner of a 1995 VW Beetle made in Puebla, Mexico. I am the second owner, and the original owner was a huge VW fan and part of the VW scene for decades in Mexico. The car was low miles (kilometers), mechanically and structurally very sound. Most importantly no rust. We paid $14,900.00... and comparatively... was actually much less than the restoration costs for the 68'... as you so expertly know. We were very lucky to have found a great car and it has kept my ownership dream alive. I'm not a mechanic and never will be... but I am a driver and enthusiast who has always enjoyed these cars. It is by far the newest Beetle I've owned... turning 30 next year... and just enhances the great experience from the older cars I have owned in the past. The process of getting the car tagged and titled was straight forward because he was over 25 years old when entering the USA. Learning about the impact of the VW Bug on Mexican culture, also in South America... certainly rivals the Bug's history in the US... was manufactured for much longer there... has been fascinating to learn about. My focus has always been having a safe car to own and enjoy driving... affordably. It will be interesting as time moves on if interest and value will increase for these newer cars. Our little Mexican/German immigrant (named Francisco) is a blast... and fulfills the desire in having an air cooled Bug. With good maintenance and expertise from our respected and trusted restoration/repair shop, Francisco will definitely see me through retirement... and hopefully till the end of my driving days. I am just very happily to be able to still enjoy yet another wonderful air cooled VW Bug. Thanks for your continued good work... Jamie

I don't comment often, and always appreciate great money saving tips like the quick roof in your video. That being said, I'd be cautious about using the carpet pad, since it will definitely retain moisture which is never a good thing. Just my humble opinion having replaced many VW floors over the years, and no disrespect intended. I will use your quick roof idea moving forward and thank you for that....I'll forego the carpet pad! Thanks

Now if I added this to a motorcycle, would it blink if the system already lets it blink or simply is the bulb the only reason why it wouldn’t blink?
