I've seen both videos and enjoyed watching them. It turned out a very successful build and product 💪💯. I'm curious what's the engraver you're using or did you happen to build it yourself as well ?

Wow that was nice of you to fix that broken 110, and what a great lesson for the rest of us… and now since you fixed and worked on it am sure it has sentimental value for the owner. Happy 2025

You are absolutely right about losing the elongated tips in the harder more dense woods, a stubbier point is called for, under those conditions!!!

The one your choosing is referred to as the Wharncliffe blade, named after the Earl of Wharncliffe!!! I think it was Rodgers cutlery works that gave it that name, so very long ago!!!

Just what I needed to know since I just finished my first from scratch knife out of a cut from a huge old sawmill bandsaw blade. It sharpened shaving sharp but based on your tests, it’s not going to hold that edge. Thanks for making that test!

So the magnet you’re using is not a a fine pole which is used on thin stock. If used on thicker stock there’s more area for the magnetic flux to hold vertically, vs fine poles don’t have much vertical height to their magnetic field so they’re stronger than the larger magnets

others have commented that they have little problem with their blades I maybe got a set badly heat treated but again it depends on how you use the thing and what material you put through it, I do know unless the blades are very sharp the machine struggles

I watched your video before I bought mine, and expected to have the same problem with the blades that you highlight at the 18 minute mark. In fact I bought a spare set of blades just in case. I've put about 6-7 hours on mine now with mostly holly, hazel and hornbeam. When I changed the oil I looked at the blades expecting the worst...and they are fine. It makes me wonder if the material you had during your first run might have had some grit or something in? I mean...they are knackered! My chipper is running fine, but I always need a bit of choke to start it, even when warm. Other than that its been great. Your video was really useful BTW.
@LozHarrop4 ай бұрын
Hi There, great to hear your blades are fine, I really do think I was unlucky and got a bad set because I was just running branches and trimmings through it and I think the drier ones chewed up the blades, have made my own since so unable to test out another set of their blades.. A good idea is to change the spark plug with a decent one and to check the air filter now and then, if the machine ever falls over the engine oil makes its way into the air filter and makes it difficult to start. Cheers.
