I have a question for you. If I wanted to buy a remote controlled adjustable bed, either with an RF remote or BT, do you think you could use the Switchbot hub to "copy" or "learn" the bed's remote and use it with, say Echo or Google? I have been reading of some people on the comments of some beds and RF/IR blasters, but the posts about the RF blasters such as Broadlink RF and IR don't say what particular bed they were able to achieve this with, and the posts about beds do not mention which device they used to do it successfully , so I know it is possible, as long as you have lightning in a bottle and are able to get A remote to work with A blaster. Do you know or are you interested in anything of the sort? I tried looking online, but the search results get more and more disappointing every time, only trying to sell you something or offering click bait of a solution or an article on something supposedly related, but not at all after you open it. There is hardly any information here on YT, on forums, and even on Reddit doesn't have something that will not tell you to take the remote apart and connect it to a raspberry device or something of the sort. I am comfortable installing and manipulating devices such as blinds, sensor and other smart home devices, also setting up apps, but I do not want to have to learn coding to achieve something that I know can be done without soldering or taking apart a remote (of a brand new device at that). Any ideas or suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone tested if it is better to vacuum and then mop separately or does the vac/mop setting where it does it at the same time just as effective? I have been doing a schedule where it vacuums and then an hour later it mops thinking maybe this cleans better? Not sure if this has ever been tested or if anyone has user experience.

Your presentation is short and clear, thanks BTW, do you think it is possible to only connect the L1 switch wire to a regular bulb, and leave L2 unconnected? What I want to achieve is: - When I press the L1 button, the regular bulb will turn on/off. - When I press the L2 button, the smart bulb (which already has a power supply) will turn on/off.

Can this work with Philips Hues? (With a Hue Bridge) ? Does this just mean I have to pair to HomeKit/GoogleHome Apps (either) and since the lights are there then it'll work together? but i also mean that this device won't be seen by the Philps Hues App/Bridge setup right?
@ru2225
@ru2225 4 ай бұрын
If you have the Aqara Hub, you should be able to expose it to HomeBridge, but aqara is natively supported in HomeKit. It does work with Hue Bulbs. In the Aqara app, there is an option to convert to "Wireless." So when you press it, it doesn't actually take power away from the bulbs. It just runs a shortcut that turns the bulb itself to 0% brightness. So you still can control the bulb through HomeKit/HomeBridge, and dont get the cant find device you get with normal switches being pressed. (I think you may need the neutral version for this functionality, though)

I have quite a lot of Aqara stuff it has one major weakness in the UK... No smart plugs or wall sockets! It ends up with you having to make complicated bridges with your smart home assistant.
@RicksTechReviews
@RicksTechReviews 7 ай бұрын
So far I have managed to get around this by pairing it with Alexa and using IFTTT, the downfall to this over home assistant is that if my internet goes down then so does my automations, but on the plus side it’s fairly simple to set up. I agree though it’s definitely something they could add to their range.
@JohnJBloomfield
@JohnJBloomfield 7 ай бұрын
@@RicksTechReviews of course iftt is an additional cost. But the real issue is if say you want to use the light and motion sensor to activate a lamp only when light levels are low...Alexa can't see the light levels from the sensor so it can't bridge it. You can put a relay behind a socket to make it smart but the aqara ones are only rated to 10a UK requires 13a

One thing not mentioned is how you can use it with a metal bead chain that has a connector in the middle to join the two ends. The blind has a sealed cog wheel which the connector cannot pass through. The smart blind device has a cog that the connector also cannot pass through. The length of the chain between both cogs is not enough to fully open and close the blinds and it's already at the lowest part of the window recess. How do you solve that?
@RicksTechReviews
@RicksTechReviews 7 ай бұрын
The only workaround I can suggest is buying a new chain for the length you need. These are available on Amazon. I didn’t have this issue with mine personally, sorry I’m not able to help more

@gashead2 Hi, yes I can do a video on how to set up Alexa routines. I do think some of the these automations will require a bit more control like using the Aqara app with the Aqara contact sensors or using the smartthings hub or home assistant. But especially for the routines I have in my home I’m more than happy to make a video showing how to set them up.

I have a favorite automation. I have an autistic child, so I have a voice cue on Alexa “It’s about that time” rings a bell, turns up the volume and says “1, 2, 3 red light!” Then turns all my living room bulbs to red. Alexa then says “In 10 minutes it’ll be time to go upstairs.” Then the lights will turn back to white, and I have it on an 8 minute wait. When the 8 minute wait is done it repeats the process to give him a 2 minute warning and reminds him to clean up his toys. The lights then turn and stay yellow. Then goes to a 2 minute wait. Once the two minute wait is up, it repeats, turns all the living room lights red and then turns all the lights on to his room. His room light will change green which gives him a visual cue to put on PJs. At that point all the lights downstairs turn off (except the ones leading upstairs). The lights leading to his room turn off after 10 minutes. There are other colors that indicate bath night or story time, and those have their own starting phrases but the same over all process. It took a little bit to get him on the routine but it has our bedtime fights down to near zero. And when he’s tired, he can (and will) initiate it himself.

I have actually just implemented a variations of the doorbell flashing the lights. I have 2 doors into my house and a video doorbell on each. But for some reason I have no idea why companies insist on making the same chime for all the doors. So I have it set up so that the front door the lights will flash red and the back door will flash green. (A variation on the port and starboard light colours as I couldn't find one for bow and stern).
