I like it. I think when Mike Scott gets a muse it's gonna be good. The Waterboys have morphed several times over the decades (eg Room to Roam vs Rock in a Weary Land albums) but they also always sound like the Waterboys. First time I saw them in a theater in Boise was revelatory. Saw them last year in Belfast and it was magic. The people levitated during Fisherman's Blues 😊. Maybe my personal favorite live music experience now I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic to catch a Phish show.

Hey man great review! Very much looking forward to the new album! For a band that can still produce raw yet polished songs I just hope the album is consistent and becomes one that is worthy of high rotation. Let's wait and see!

Thanks so much, and I’m delighted you enjoyed the review. It’s a lot of fun to do. I love talking about music. I can’t wait to hear the album. Very excited about it. Not always been a huge fan, but I do like to dip into the catalogue, and it’s always fascinating. :-)

I am pretty sure it is his voice, but again it was recorded in a studio so the consistency is easy to achieve where you can always sing a phrase again. The song doesn't really go up into the range his voice had when he was young. Regardless, a great song.

Think it'll grow on you. Their live shows over the last few years have been really incredible!!! Check them out if you're can. Doing a big UK tour in May. A few Irish dates in June. So...Check out the Modern Blues album from 2015. Long Strange Golden Road. Incredible song. The energy is fantastic. Thanks for sharing this. You got a new fan from Chicago!! I've gone over the last 2 summers to Ireland just to see them. Great fans and great shows. Peace ✌️

As I said in the video, I’ve not got much of their back catalogue to refer to, and I see what you mean about the new singles being cast-off material. I think it’s a fascinating retrospective now that they’re older guys, but you’re right. I'll be interested to see if the album is more experimental… Thanks for watching. Thanks for the comment. @@chattingtracks I love Tenpole Tudor and have seen him solo a few times. He doesn't get huge crowds but always gives a great original performance. There is great footage of him at the memorial do for Chas Hodges (from Chas & Dave) and he does a track called The Farmer (or something) which is very brave in its simplicity. In your interview he mentioned some other LPs and I know the one(s) he means. There is a great track on one called Stay United and another great one is a cover version of an old blues song (St Louis Woman? St Louis Blues?) . Also amazed he is now a Father

I heard my copy of their first album recently and now I understand why they wanted to release this. But I think they should listen to the fans and release a version without pitch correction because I am still sticking with my 2011 CD with the De Lane Lea demos on the second disc

I absolutely agree. I like the album as a separate unit, but you’re right-they shouldn’t have messed with a pitch. Correction: You can’t pitch correct, Freddie Mercury. LOL.
