Been a Queen fan since 1973, have all my original records. It looks like a nice package but pitch correcting Freddie's vocals, using drum samples and rebranding it as Queen 1 is naff so I will stick with what I have.

It will be interesting to see what they do with this new record, so I’ll probably end up buying it. LOL. They didn't used drum samples, it's the same one, but heavily EQ'd and compressed.

I understad the remixes for Beatles albums that originally had horrible stereo panning due to the nature of 4-track tapes (although there are some odd decisions made by Giles Martin that I don't like much), but I don't think there was need for this. Yes, the original production doesn't sound good, but that's what makes the album so charming: Them having to record during wee hours and re-configuring the mixing desk after the last artist used it.

I think you’re right. The original recording being rough and ready is what gave it all its charm and magic. If they polish it too much, it won’t work, killing many of that early-hours recording magic. I think I’m just going to buy the album for the extras. Thanks so much, thanks for coming. I heard my copy of their first album recently and now I understand why they wanted to release this. But I think they should listen to the fans and release a version without pitch correction because I am still sticking with my 2011 CD with the De Lane Lea demos on the second disc

I absolutely agree. I like the album as a separate unit, but you’re right-they shouldn’t have messed with a pitch. Correction: You can’t pitch correct, Freddie Mercury. LOL.

​@@JIF882they most certainly did, and it's very easy to tell, it's also been proven on several different KZbin channels that analyze this kind of stuff, but you took the natural emotion out of Freddy's voice and turned it into an AI abomination. When they did the remastered version it was great the original the remastered play those against this new AI garbage it's a huge difference I was just about to make the purchase on this set until I listen to a couple of tracks and stopped dead in my tracks LOL

I am personally excited to hear the updated mixes. If you don’t like the auto tune, you can just listen to the original. I may hate it, but am curious and am open to liking it.

I for one am all for it , i can’t wait til it’s released. I love the packaging, all the goodies it comes with and the remastering/remixing of the tracks. As shown in The Night Comes Down, the drums sound way better than in the original mix, which is an improvement and that alone makes it worthwhile. As for the renaming of Queen I, it makes sense doesn’t it? I mean what else are you going to call it? Queen’s first album? Queen’s debut album? Queen I is just fine and it works.

Strangely, this album has already been so divisive among fans. Like yourself, I’m just going to get the box and judge it on that, but I get why people are reacting to Freddie Mercury being tuned; maybe just a bit of ambience and delay. I’ve done it on the whole album, but the drums sound much deeper. It's fuller and deeper, and the guitar sounds brighter and fresher. Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. :-)

I wish they had chosen a different sound for the snare that maybe sounded more like the drums on Sheer Heart Attack or A Night at the Opera. But maybe it will sound better on some of the other tracks. We'll have to see. I don't know if their goal was to make it sound more modern with those drums; but that's what it seems to me. But I really hate that they autotuned Freddie. Sure, he's now completely in tune. But in doing so, I think they sucked some of the human soul that you get in the original. That said, I love the improved clarity between the rest of the instruments in the mix. And I'm really looking forward to the outtakes and finally getting an official version of Hangman.

Please reconsider your comment because you spelled Freddie’s name wrong and Brian wrote some of their greatest hits. I agree they shouldn’t have auto tuned his voice but saying he deserved better band mates is just disrespectful considering how much they had to do with writing and creating all of their biggest songs.
