Love this, if you have to strain your ears to this degree and have to isolate tracks in order to hear the difference, the the extra money spent on conversion may be a waste.. and puttin it on streaming services while also mixed in with a playlist of other music, does it matter?
@DavidDiMuzioКүн бұрын
I liked D on vocals, C on acoustic guitar, maybe B on the bass (but basically just didn't like A), C for the line input, C for the DAC,

You’re in Fixed/Man mode which means the attack is set at 1ms and the release is variable. Turning the attack knob does nothing….

I can so hear the difference but to each his own. I know a Disney studio that was using an old telephone receiver as a mic.

To the average ear, the difference doesn’t matter. But that extra bit of detail is the difference between somebody liking it and everybody loving it. Same thing with a good mix vs a bad mix. That last 10% is the key

This is such great advice! Do you ever chunk your task list to fit the time blocks you anticipate having? Like if you really only have blocks of an hour and a half, make the task "put bass on the chorus?" Recently I started paying attention to what time of the day my energy is primed for specific tasks. For instance, I love mixing in the morning (especially mixing other people's material), but it's hard to get into that zone in the evening when I'm tired. So I do non-creativity tasks in the evening like email, updating the task list, etc. My productivity/quality leveled up when I started doing this.

Quick question: Did you go straight into an interface, or did you run through your vocal chain? That would be totally fair but might explain the insanely high quality. Plus, I’m pretty sure mic diaphragms are manufactured way more precisely today-even in some remote factory in Northeast China-than they were 60 years ago. Honestly, I think people underestimate just how much better today’s tech components are overall.

This is going straight into the UA X4 Gen 2 on both mics, both mic have a touch of compression on the way in, then 1176 > Pro Q3 (same eq settings) > Valhalla vintage verb

I would probably argue that the mic holds more value in sonics than a preamp, especially if you’re not peaking or distorting on the preamp.

Sell your music EXCLUSIVELY at local record shops. Keep the rights to your music. Keep the profits. Build a community that you can see and touch. Don’t be scared about what you’re missing out on by not conforming. If you have something good enough, they will come to you.
