I have and love a lot of marvel comics but at the end of the day I dislike the World Outside Your Window approach. DC's anything-goes universe has more potential for fun, Marvel has to work a lot harder to get there.

I know it was a Freudian slip, but I'd honestly be intrigued enough to buy FF if Peter North was writing it.

That’s what i thought that Hickman wanted, to make the X-men the bad guys but would that work better?
@JDPetty099012 сағат бұрын
To be fair, Marvel and DC are certainly trying their hardest on this front. At least it's not at IDW Transformers levels yet? The diehard fans on either side will say the state of their company of choice is like when Mick Foley won the WWF Championship the same night the "Fingerpoke of Doom" happened on WCW. Frankly, it's more like if that whole "giving birth to hand" storyline played out on the same night on WWF. The real answer to this question is if DC has a character as forced as Jeff the Land Shark. Perch must be suffering with Marvel Rivals making him more relevant...

Ha!! Funny AF! But I might argue that Susan followed Reed into the balls deep end of the known universe... because she wanted to have his baby. 😮 If that's not offensive.

They have definitely done this before, but I don’t understand why heroes, especially hero teams, don’t get an inside investor (Tony Stark, T’Challa, Iron Fist, Mr. Fantastic, for D.C. Batman) or one of their other 50 or so uber rich friends to fund everybody else so they can focus one-hundred percent on hero work, instead of jobs and rent and what-have-you. If Spider-Man asked pretty much ANY of the millionaires or billionaires he knows to give him a loan, he would undoubtedly get it.

The Spider-Man will do anything to keep an 88 year old woman alive is a legit argument for his lameness

Marvel heroes have plenty of weaknesses, just as silly as DC when they were all created in the Silver age. It's just that there was no Marvel version of the Super Friends, so all the kids watching it on Saturday mornings didn't see it. They were allowed many decades of growth and didn't trap them in Amber like that

The one thing that Marvel does better than anyone, is the recap of the previous issue they put on the first page of their books.. it's nice to have a paragraph to remind me what happened last month. Conan does this as well, and I wonder if it's a good habit Jim Zubb picked up when he worked at Marvel?

Yea let them be offended, gay has always been used as a stand in for lame. I still use it like that & I’ll never change simply because some people are offended, just grow up.

I love these kind of banter emails - it goes back to the classic days of arguing in the comic shop about which superhero was better or which of the Big Two was better. They make me laugh and think back to those days in the early to mid 2000s when I was growing up. Keep these ones coming, Perch, this is the kind of light-hearted fun banter that comics needs.

Love Gaiman's work, will keep buying and reading it. Or people could do what I do and just read the comics, I don't go onto message boards, I don't interact with other comics fans online (so any responses to this will be ignored). It's just me and the comics that I enjoy.

15:05 That's exactly how it's working. No one GAF about Ed until he had a gallery show and a lucrative publishing contract then all of a sudden he was The (New) Worst Person Ever. Unjustly Maligned, Red Handed Filthy Culpable, Slightly Naughty; none of these people who come out against [Current Object/Focus of Outrage] are motivated by morality. Timing is Everything, and they tell on themselves with their timing, _every time._

Yeah, it's hard to expect "professional" behavior from people you're paying like sweat-shop laborers. I think you're right that some of the sleaze-balls in comics are here because of the "less pay in exchange for less accountability" equation On the other hand, Disney and Warner are a part of the Hollywood machine where things like the Casting Couch have long been considered standard "professional" behavior. (And, even now post-me-too, still go on.)

The trick to enjoying comics to to ignore everything outside of them. I don't care if Mark Waid is a dumb boomer, because this week I read the latest issue of Detective Comics and the latest issue of Superman back to back, and I swear I got high off the art.

I’m on my way to re-buy the manga I lost in the fire. I finally saved enough to get back one set. So I don’t have time to worry about Western comics. They keep making unforced errors to the point that they deserve the consequences.
