If Mashel was distributed and managed by Marvel, they will try to cram him into dr stange magic school, and then having to reveal that he is the missing son of the hulk. And try to cram old characters instead of new ones

I actually just got done watching an interview that Stan Lee did with Larry king in 2000 and Stan even said, it has to be simple, people need to understand what a hero is and what a villain is and that is it. I was like... yeah. Makes sense

I agree, simplicity of a premise is the best way to tell a comic. Complexity comes with time.

It's obviously pretty different, but it reminds me of the anime series, "Louie the Rune Soldier." Louie isn't bright, but he isn't *that* dumb. He goes to a magic school but generally prefers to punch his way through challenges. It's a series I like to watch once a year or so. It's only 24 episodes and it never gets complicated. It's just a fun adventure show. As a bonus, it takes place in the same world as Record of Lodoss War and Legend of Crystania.

I went to BARNES N NOBLES, somewhere in Texas, and …. 16 bookshelves of MANGA vs. 6-8 bookshelves of American comic books. Most of the 6-8 American comic books were MARVEL/DC. Maybe MARVEL/DC don’t really care about selling comic books? Their “franchises” are MORE valuable as a film or television show than a comic book, and MANGA is just EASIER for NEW readers 😀

I'm very much not an anime guy, but this year they produced 2 manga/anime that severely got my attention based on premise alone. Comics can just be better 🤷‍♂️ Mashle got its anime this year, which got me to read the full 18 vol and now I'm on vol 12 of Kaiju no 8 it's just basic story telling and art it's not rocket science.

If your daughter likes Mashle, she might also like Cromartie High School... which at the moment is on Tubi and a few other things for free. I just started rewatching Mashle on Netflix, maybe I was too focused on the whole One Punch Man similar of it all, but I’m watching the dub of it this time and it’s really jumping out at me how similar Mashle is to Cromartie High School. Mashle is like Cromartie High School with Harry Potter and One Punch Man stuff added in. She might also like The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., which oddly enough is not in the recommendations on Netflix for Mashle despite Netflix having both series of it, one of which is a Netflix Series. The Saiki K shows are pretty similar comedy wise.

I’m going to disagree somewhat on the idea of the ‘90s comic reader being a whole generation that came in without reboots and number ones. The 1991 X-Men comic while not technically a reboot of X-Men, may as well be a reboot of X-Men given how it’s basically Jim Lee and Chris Claremont remaking the first issue of The X-Men from ‘63 where Magneto attacks a military base to steal missiles. ‘90s X-Men’s relationship to the pre ‘90s stuff almost seems like the same relationship the ‘90s cartoon has to the older comics. In some instances, like when they explain the Psylocke body swap in the ‘90s, it’s almost better to not know the details of it from Acts of Vengeance because the two don’t really line up... may as well be completely disconnected for what came before in the same way it would be if the ‘90s X-Men cartoon was adapting that aspect of the character. Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man #1 the year before is another Marvel comic that feels like a reboot. The first issue reads like a new beginning where you’re starting with a Spider-Man that’s just been Spider-Man for a few years. If Spider-Man #1 was a cartoon it’d be a new show from what came before it, even if some basics of it still lined up with the previous stuff. Given Spider-Man, the new Ghost Rider comic, and relaunched X-Men line that was coming it’s kind of a surprise John Byrne’s Armor Wars 2 wasn’t a relaunched #1 Iron Man title given how Armor Wars 2 is Byrne doing an Iron Man remake. A whole lot of ‘90s Marvel and DC characters also had recently rebooted, or had some new bigger thing in other media that may as well act as the same thing... Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man, Superman, and some other characters all got movies and characters explaining stuff. A lot of the popular ‘90s characters were new characters from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Spider-Man’s most popular villains in the ‘90s were Venom and Carnage. Until the Sam Raimi movie, I’m pretty sure cartoon Hobgoblin was bigger than Green Goblin. Gambit, Cable, Bishop, and Japanese ninja Psylocke were some of the most popular X-Men. A number of characters in Bruce Timm’s Batman and Superman cartoons may as well be new characters in comparison to what they had been, (Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Lex Luthor) and they introduced Harley Quinn.

In the earlier days of comics there was an element of throwing things at the wall to see what would stick. I Feel Like Comics do better with that mentality. You're going to have a lot of bombs, and in a lot of titles that just never go anywhere, but that's the only way that you figure out that something like Spider-Man will work.

Yes, you made a video where Barnes & Noble has the large shelf of manga. People got mad at you. 2:02 What about Paper Girls, Perch? Amazon promote the comic because they made an adaptation of tv show. Hell Amazon website promote the comic more than the show itself. 2:27 Including Rent a Girlfriend? I seen people criticizing that manga and it sold a lot. 2:41 So if your different Genre can succeed in the big video left your mind hasn’t it, Perch? Guess it meant nothing to you. That is sad. Just sad. Did you also forget about your Fantasy Genre video as well? You know I found a Western Genre comic from this century. *Cinnamon: El Ciclo from DC comic.* How about you review it. When I say Western comic I mean comics that made in the West. I’f meant Western Genre comics I would put Genre in the sentence. I read more manga than western comics. 3:39 Didn’t DC’s Infinite Crisis happen in the 1980s, Perch? Can you explain Heroes Reborn? Marvel’s first attempt to make reboot until that was retcon. 4:15 SSSniperwolf? The woman who literally doxxed jackfilms? She is still making videos? I like Mashle. But I wasn’t huge into it. It just what if Saitama was in Hogwats. I do like How Mashle’s 6:07 Aren’t you a comic a reviewer? You have to review, western comic to make hoping the plot makes sense and it is entertaining? You literally criticize The recent X Men crossover about veterans like Cyclops losing to Gail Simone’s new mutants. Are we not supposed to take Paul and Jay Nakumara seriously? I’ve even criticize Alyssa Wong’s Iron Fist comic. Of how bad the comic is. The art is great but the story is garbage. Am I not supposed to take it seriously? I remember someone got angry about Absolute Batman having a axe and they you I think someone with an axe, some that kills people. That person read the comic and the absolute is so fun you don’t take it seriously? Interesting. Interesting indeed. 6:31 Well…. You say you want something simple and new but you won’t commit. Ultimate X Men by Peach Momoko. We will have 7:20 I am positive you are confusing Black Clover to Mashle. 9:17 He doesn’t have magic powers and not born with the mark. 10:55 Name an original black superhero that has solo comic that more than 50 issues. 11:18 Sina Grace. 11:51 That is why DC and Marvel create legacy characters. Make new version of same hero but keep the old hero. Were you alienated when Hal Jordan was replace by Kyle Rayner. What About Danny Ketch as the only Ghost Rider. 13:08 Is it Engeron universe with Transformers and G.I Joe? Props to them making a new Ip Void Rivials. Or is it Power rangers from Boom Studios? You Sonic the Hedgehog is gonna have a crossover with Justice League. 12:23 Okay Perch. Let me you give some parent advice. You say something new but not give it any attention at all. I mean in DC and Marvel in general. You mentioned indies comic. If DC and Marvel make something entirely new you will not give it any attention. You will alway gravitate to existing properties like Spider Man and Batman rather than talking about new ip from DC and Marvel . As you would say, “DC and Marvel gets people LCS” DC and Marvel runs the Direct Market. You say PKJ made another Ghost Rider from WW2 Hellhunters rather than using An existing Character like Blazing Skull. What about *Strange Academy?* Is Strange Academy was something simple, Perch? That comic didn’t make it to 50 issue because it didn’t sell well. Marvel did not have faith in Skottie Young’s simple idea. I recently read the post Skottie Young Strange Academy comics. I didn’t like it. Carlos Henrdanez’s writing sucks. And i don’t like Character, Pia from Blood Hunt. I really hope she is not part the Main Cast of Strange Academy. There are better characters. I Rather have Reptil’s young cousin to be part of the Main cast. Also Where’s Dessy? Didn’t she recovered after Strange Academy finals? And Daniel José Older wrote Doyle out of character. How about G.o.d.s by Jonathan Hickman. I’ll be honest I haven’t read it. But did it has a simple plot that Marvel has much faith in, that they charged audience for $10 each issue? Go review *Spellbinders by Mike Carey.* It is high school kids who has magic. And they are part of the Marvel universe, yet they never appear in other marvel comics. Go review Sam Humphries’ Weirdworld. It it literally normal Girl isekai into fantasy world. Skottie Young and I are fans of Goleta the Wizardslayer. I don’t see you talking about Goleta. Go review Avengers: The Initiative. Go review Simon Dark. And yes Simon Dark is still own by DC comic. How about a Retrospective of 1st Avengers Academy. Go review Young Heroes in Love. Yes that is a Romantic comic from DC itself. Because these are simple and original plots from DC and Marvel you literally do not give any attention to. Because I don’t have faith in them. For god’s sake you an x men fan but I always about New X Men Surge, Prodigy, Elixir and Anole than you. I might go to watch your interview with Geoffrey Thorne, I wonder if he mentioned his Mosaic’ comic from Marvel.

@commonsense5199
@commonsense5199 25 күн бұрын
@@Jo_Mama710The Short Answer. Perch said DC and Marvel should learn something from Mashle of making something New and Simple. If DC and Marvel do anything like that *they won’t get an audience.* Because DC and Marvel has to rely on Popular and Existing and characters. That what audience including Perch gravitates to because it something that is familiar to get an audience. Is it’s like Disney with Live Action remakes. If DC and Marvel published something new and simple(that is not under Vertigo or Icon or indie branch) they won’t get an audience like Batman and Spider Man. New And Simple idea get attention in Manga, More than DC and Marvel. Look a Drama Queen. New and Simple and it start a controversy. Cosmos, new and simple and got 2nd printing. The last time Big Two done anything new and simple was G.O.D.S from Jonathan Hickman. I didn’t read it but that last time Marvel done new and simple, it didn’t get an audience despite Jonathan Hickman is recognizable name. Shame you didn’t read what I have to say because I gave out examples when DC and Marvel made something new and Simple. I am an A.I after all. I have not forgot you said I am not really an A.I

@@commonsense5199the question that needs to get asked then is why does simple and new work for manga while it does not work for DC and Marvel? They have a very similar though not entirely overlapping market. Maybe DC and Marvel need to figure that out.

Ya see Demon Slayer is aggressively mediocre. Its not bad but its not great either. But it still sold 100 million copies in a year. Distribution and having a good quality tv show to advertise the comic. America needs an equivalent to anime from comics.

Demon Slayer is not “mediocre”, it doesn’t do anything extremely new or inventive, and the plot might be paper thin, but the story is fun, it’s got a great pace, it’s got great character designs, its got good villains, it’s got good battle mechanics with no power creep and it’s got a good message. Everything it does, it does well. I see a bunch of people ragging on it lately but there’s a reason why it sold so many copies of the manga & anime is currently being propped up by it, it’s just a fun story.

@@InfamyOrDeath-__- I think the simple reason it sold a lot, was that it got a lot of advertisement. People went "I'll give it a try" and then there was nothing really wrong with it so they read through it all or watched the full anime. Advertising any other good manga would probably have gotten the same result. At least if there was anime to match it up with to get both groups of customers interested in the brand.
