PostMillenialism best complements the Wesleyan view of sanctification. Just as the Spirit will be victorious in progressively producing a perfect work in the regenerated believer over the course of his life, so too will the Lord be victorious in progressively expanding His kingdom throughout the whole earth over the course of history. Thoughts?

If faith is not the exercise of man’s moral agency (enabled by grace) then it must be imparted deterministically. The exercise of his moral agency does not negate the fact that his salvation is not of his works and is a free gift from God.

Thank you for this sound and right,y divided teaching! Holy Spirit is our Ultimate Teacher. We are in the last days. God has and is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh. Women, men, boys, and girls. And, there’s nothing any of us can do about it. Let God be true and every (tradition of) man be a liar.

I dunno. Doesn't it depend on the perspective taken? If you see Noah & family as being 'taken' up i 3:40 nto the ark and others left behind with respect to the ark, then the analogy seems to make sense from a rapture perspective, doesn't it? The whole pericope there in 36-44 is pretty obscure to me. I think when things are that confusing it's likely we are dealing with highly metaphorical language and should not read too much into it one way or another. After going over the passage closely a few more times, I do now think that, if taken at face value, the analogy is between Jesus and the flood with its destruction and between Jesus and the being taken. Therefore, you would not want to be taken at Jesus's coming (which would bring flood of destruction, AD70 perhaps), but you would want to be 'left behind.' 1 Thess 4:16-17 is another bag of slippery worms. Looking at the Greek, it appears to most likely being saying the living and the dead who are Christ's would someday meet him in the spirit realm to welcome and accompany him back to earth where He would dwell in the faithful forever. At least, that's how I read it, but there are lots of issues.

I see he doesn't mention 1 Timothy 3, where it very clearly says that only men can be an overseer, pastor, elder, or deacon. It can't be more clear. God has structure in heaven and on earth. All the disciples were men, Jesus was a man, God and the Holy Spirit are both referred to as "He", all the arch angels are referred to as male, and Adam was created first and woman was created from him to be a "helpmate." If you have a problem with this, take it up with God as He inspired every word in scripture.

@TheologyProjectOnline right, but what about all the rest of scripture that indicates that men should be the lead? God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are referred to as male. Adam came first then Eve from Adam to be a helpmate. All 13 Apostles were men. They had a chance to vote in a woman after Judas but did not. All the archangels are referred to as male. I think it's clear in Scripture that God decided that men should be the lead in spiritual matters.

Galatians Equality in Christ is based on justification not ordination. As ultimate authority, Scripture clearly does not teach women to be in an authoritative office, such as bishop or pastor. Everything else is a an attempt to workaround truth by blurring the lines of the original text.

Wesley also believed rubbing onions on your head would cure baldness. By his long nappy hair, his wife drug him across their house in a ‘unperfected’ marriage that ended in divorce. It was recorded in various mediums that Wesley also was a ladies man. Wesley was documented to be a plagiarist. His 1700’s language is nothing more than an imperfect man, trying to make a theory that fringes on heresy. Nobody under the sun will ever be entirely sanctified by human metric works based ideologies. This sort of teaching leads to a tormented soul, that does not encounter the joy of salvation in the finished work of Christ. I’ve personally witnessed people almost to a point of breakdown trying to fulfill this edgy theory. The best route to take is to bypass this faulty and confusing theory exit of that was compiled post Midevil era, when people were still being burned at the stake for failing to uphold such faulty teachings. Drive toward Christ and the unconditional love that provides us the free gift of salvation. Sanctification is always progressive and never an ultimatum. He who is without sin, cast the first stone. Those who say they are without sin, have deceived themselves.

1 Tim. 3:2, "A bishop must then be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach..." It never says the wife of one husband or the partner of one wife. I also totally disagree with adding to Scripture, in this case, projecting that Adam failed to teach Eve correctly. I have to reject every argument made here.

You inject into 1 Timothy the idea that Paul Is forbidding people without suficiente theological training from preaching. But that Is not even implicit in the text. A curse Is pronounced on those who add to scripture, so don't read your own ideas into it. Paul writes with God given apostolic authority, submission to his teaching Is submission to God.

1. The rapture is plainly taught in Scripture. Believers will be physically removed from the earth according to 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. As soon as I hear someone say, “the rapture is not in the Bible,” I know they’ve already lost the argument. If you think 1 Thessalonians 4:17 is just allegory then there is nothing further to discuss. If we can’t agree on the basic meaning of words then we are not going to agree on anything. The passage says believers will be “caught up” from the earth and will meet the Lord in the air. Some even go so far as to argue that the word “rapture” is not in the Bible. I’m utterly dumbfounded by that argument, which is the logical equivalent of saying there is no Trinity because the word “Trinity” is not in the Bible. In fact, the word rapture (specifically rapiemur from rapio) is in the Latin Bible; interestingly, as a future active participle, it can actually take a form nearly identical to our English word “rapture”: Latin raptūre. In the original Greek passage of 1 Thessalonians 4, what is “will be caught up” or “will be snatched up” in English, is rapiemur in Latin, and harpagēsometha, from harpazo, in Greek. They all mean exactly the same thing: to be forcefully seized or snatched away in a [usually] unexpected way. It’s the same concept, and semantics will never change that fact. Note that the Vulgate-the Latin Bible which does use the word-has been used by Christians for over 1,600 years and is still in use today. From unsealed, org

Did Wesley not accept the Church of England's doctrine that babies are regenerated/justified in baptism? One gets the impression that he/Wesleyans disregard the possibility of being regenerate/justified before coming to a moment of conversion at an age of reason.

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit The great commission here applies to both men and women. It involves women preaching and baptizing. This conflict with Paul on 1 Timothy 2 and Jesus is greater than Paul. Hence we choose Jesus over Paul in this case.

But the scripture of 1 Corinthians 15:52-55 along with the scripture of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 clearly indicates us duplicating Jesus rising from dead and those alive rising up to meet God in the air. Along with all the other reflections of one taken one remaining, the ten virgins, 5 denied entry 5 going into the wedding feast as guests to Jesus' marriage to Wisdom and in Jeremiah 31:22 Wisdom surrounding her husband. Remember Enoch was taken and will be part of God's ten thousands of Holy ones returning to execute judgment on the wicked. You are putting heavy stock on established opinions of somebody' take of the scripture however be commendable for the memory of scripture, but clearly lacking in recognizing the power of God, which sounds like what Jehovah Witnesses do in relying on someones else' take of scripture.

One of the really difficult claims to maintain is that women in the early church were not educated. The apostles did not care about formal education, and many of them lacked formal training. In contrast, the church, beginning with Christ's earthly ministry, was a fertile soil in which all disciples of Christ were trained in his doctrine (including women!). Why would Paul be able to single out women as being uneducated in this environment? In fact Paul's instructions in 1 Timothy 2 show just the opposite: women ARE supposed to learn, but not in order to TEACH or LEAD the church, i.e., the role of pastors, which immediately discusses afterward in 1 Tim 3.

Al Wolters contribution to "Women in the Church" thoroughly rebuts the inaccurate claim that αυθεντεω ("exercise authority") is used with a consistent negative connotation in the early church. Anyone interested should go read his 50+ pages which deals with all the uses we know abput before Nicea, as well as a good summary of post Nicene usage.

I John 4, during Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan women by the well, He responds to her question concerning where is God to be worshipped, on that hill in Samaria or in Jerusalem. Remarkably, Jesus responded, “Neither place”. “God is Spirit”, He said. “They that choose to worship the Father MUST worship Him in Spirit and Truth”. The Father is seeking such to worship Him. Ok then, so how do we define Truth? Until we are unified around the “Truth” as spoken by Jesus throughout the Gospels and Acts as well as the inspired Apostles, especially those who shared what Jesus had taught them concerning the Kingdom of Heaven, we can’t possibly hope for revival. I will say this; Jesus was abundantly clear concerning the nature and timing of His Parousia. Unfortunately, just as he admonished the Pharisees and lawyers about their making the Word of God of no effect because of their traditions, even so, today denominational traditions and creeds cloud Jesus’ own testimonies concerning himself and the nature of His Kingdom. It is sad that pastors and teachers, especially the denominational seminary trained, can view the passages of Scripture where Jesus clearly defines the nature and timing of His Parousia/Return, and remark how Jesus “really” meant to come at this time, in this manner. In same manner they suggest the inspired disciples and Apostles were mistaken as they passed on Jesus’ testimony concerning Himself. Some of these men are pretenders; some are sincere but deceived; some even have realized how wrong fidelity to creeds and traditions are, yet they are too afraid to lose their place in the synagogue go to speak. Who among you who enter the pulpit and expound upon holiness and revival and responsibility to your fellow man will do the “first work” and take Jesus at His Word?

The Bible makes it absolutely clear in Revelation 20 and 21 that the earth and the old created order pass away. Literally in the Greek, "vanishes". I could write and write to prove my point, but there is no need to. You appear to be an intelligent individual. So, if you have been getting the question for the past twenty years, take them to Revelation 20 and 21. The answer is plain. Then continue reading and find out that God makes a new Heaven and a new Earth. So yes, does the Bible teach that at some point God destroys the earth. The answer is plain in scripture.

I don’t see anywhere in Scripture where it says,”One day, millions of people will suddenly disappear. If something that huge were going to occur it would be mentioned directly. The parting of the Red Sea wasn’t vague, the calming of the Sea of Galilee wasn’t vague. This childish escapism is taught nowhere outside North America. This is because, with a few exceptions, North Americans are spiritually weak and immature. You only need to look at what passes for worship services in some places. You don’t know whether you’re at a political rally, a circus performance or a talk show filming. People are walking into the sanctuary with cups of coffee and practically throwing their feet over the seat backs. No reverence whatsoever. If you think that pleases God think again. The church has fallen into decadence with no sense of distinction between the holy and the common.
