Excellent! You have been busy, I've subscribed and will certainly join end off January payday!. Is the layout dcc?, or analogue? How many controllers are running? I also have a very large analogue layout at my parents house.
@model.train.railway.7 күн бұрын
Thanks, Its DC with 15 controllers. The top 7 tracks are assisted with a digital boxes. Each track is split into 5 sections and the box prevents the faster train catching up with the slower one. Each train has a magnet underneath to tell the box which section it is in. ATB, Philip

Philip, much progress indeed - well done! _British Rail's last shunting horse was 'Charlie' at Newmarket. Charlie retired on 21st February 1967 after shunting his own horsebox onto the train which took him to Clare Hall (Ston Easton) to join his working companion, Butch._ 🐴

Excellent piece of knowledge. I heard that story years ago, but forgot most of the details. I was close with the year, kind regards , Philip
@ewhurstgreen8 күн бұрын
@@model.train.railway. Philip, you most certainly were and it is so nice to see a shunting horse modelled (you've just got to add his 'driver' now)! 🙂 _Shunting horses (as compared to horse drawn trains) were surprising common yet so little is written about them. Shunting horses often walked in the cess roped to the wagon alongside. That way if the wagon started to roll the horse wouldn't get run over._
@model.train.railway.7 күн бұрын
There's several videos I have just watched. I also looked at many pictures and I should have had the horse in the cress with a driver as you said. I did find this picture though with two horses chained to the middle of the wagon walking in the middle of the track, although it was a Victorian picture in a shunting yard. It must have been for longer distances I guess. www.gersociety.org.uk/images/stories/documents/Pupil%20Sample.pdf

@@model.train.railway. I'd indicated solo horses often walked alongside - but certainly not always! _The six-foot can be a difficult place to keep a good footing especially if the 'driver' is trying to lead a reluctant horse!_ Most interesting photograph including the use of metal chains instead of ropes.
@model.train.railway.7 күн бұрын
Maybe chains are tougher and long lasting than ropes. I will put in my next video a more accurate horse drawn wagon pulling on the side with a driver. Thanks, ATB Philip

Great progress again! Just an observation but at around 3:39 in video, about centre screen beyond the diamond and r/h point, on the straight exit of the point the track seems to kink rather abruptly? I probably have similar on mine too!! Happy New Year, Tom.
@model.train.railway.8 күн бұрын
I had a set of electrofrog points which fitted nicely, but caused a short circuit and had to put in the short pair of insulfrog points instead which caused the kink. Another job to sort out. Very well spotted.
