Philip, thank you for sharing yet another enjoyable video! 👍 Used to travel on these sets regularly, timing my journeys in order to make use of the dining car. 😄 However, if an HST set was departing north from King's Cross much preferred the ride and comfort of a Mk3. 😎 Such trips sadly long gone now. 😢

Funny enough that was something I was going to mention, but I was somehow the voice over didn't go quite right. I think trying to do 1 video a week is too much. Kind regards, Philip

@@model.train.railway. One video a week is a really target to aim for! _I've only had two videos this week due to two visitors /running sessions over the Bank Holiday weekend._

I was trying to go for 4000 hours in a year, but I have 3,400. When I retire next September, I might try and so a video every week.

@@model.train.railway. Either way that is an impressive amount of footage. 😎 However, if you believe retirement really will leave you with lots of 'spare' time....... 😂

I am going on several holidays first. Many retired people say the same thing.

Nice bit of background info. The H&M controllers are still great to have. I have one and Several Tri-ang P Series controllers, all working well. Happy Modelling

The 225s, in my opinion, were by far the most comfortable trains operating, with nothing comparing with them since. I got the recent Hornby Class 91, and it handles a 9 coach GNER train with ease, using DC. My H&M double controlled is 45 years old and is fine. I even us the old Relco track cleaning devices. Great video thank you.

1:17 maybe they could have made the railroad signals operate similar to runway lights at airports ? I think that could have improved visibility.. maybe beyond 140 plus mph. Thanks for the upload

There are so many things they could have done. Before designing the train, its something that should have been considered.

Fascinating to watch. The sound is great, I have been on a platform when the 1:1 goes through at speed. THAT is loud. Can I ask an unrelated question? I have just finished two 11-carriage "Blood and Custard" trains. And I can't decide what to use to pull them! What do you use? Are they Black-liveried steam, or BR Green? I have a Black Merchant Navy, and also an MN in BR Green, but could I use an Ivatt C1, or an A4 Mallard, or maybe a Flying Scotsman, version 2 or 3?

Thankyou. I think that by 1960 most steam locos were black, but looking a photos there were always exceptions when some locos were still green. By 1960 blood and custard was almost gone. I have gone for green because the locos were cheaper to buy and have gone for bulk rather total accuracy. I had this with track beds. Whatever you do, you can always find a photo to suit yourself. I am not always totally accurate.

Have a look at this kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2rQmpqEmrhjd6s I was going to say by the early 1960s everything was drab and dirty.

Enjoyed another run. What sort of service to you give your engines to make them run so well?
@model.train.railway.9 ай бұрын
Before the filming I cleaned to wheels as there are only 4 contact wheels and thats it. I am very poor at oiling the locos unless they make noises. Too many to service. In my last video I was running my CMX round to clean the track, but I only do that once a year at best. I find that if you run the locos for 5 minutes, they go faster and smoother, I guess the engine and coach wheels warm up to lower the friction
