Just installs mines but it seems when it fills a few minutes later water stores leaking or filling and then toilet runs and stops. What did I do wrong 😅

Carbon felt is great for replacing the cotton wadding in liquid fueled hand warmers (Jon-e, Zippo, Peacock, Butterfly, etc.). The cotton at the top of the fuel reservoir typically singes turning black which prevents the fuel from properly atomizing. Carbon felt wicks as good as the cotton (and maybe better) and doesn't burn or singe! You can either replace ALL the cotton in the reservoir, or just place a piece at the top of the reservoir after removing the singed to layer. The heater will work much better than before.

Great tips. What about to seal under that pop-up drain, I have a gasket but is leaking. Not the top of the sink, but at the bottom. Should I use putty or silicone? Any tips? Thanks.
@JENSENDIY5 күн бұрын
@@LuisSanchez-jj1os If you mean the cone shaped gasket underneath those are one of the most common leak spots. First you need to make sure it’s dry on both sides of gasket, push gasket into place, small bead silicone around where gasket meets drain threads & tighten nut, let dry. That usually does it. Hope it helps!

😱 you need to make the wick shorter until there's no smoke,then it could be used indoors. Make sure you buy 100% carbon felt, no other material added.

Thank you for posting this video. My husband passed suddenly 2 nights ago, and he was unable to winterize our frost proofs, and was unable to articulate what exactly I should do past turning off the outside valves. He actually had piped in hot water alongside the cold. So there's 2 at my outside faucets and I'm scrambling to find this information. So grateful, these videos are a lifeline when the person who does particular tasks isn't able to tell others, this is a lifeline especially in this economy. Thank you sir, this was a great help.

So So what would you suggest When sometimes you flush the toilet and it doesn't refill like the floater gets stuck? Then I open up the back and just tap it and it starts to refill, It doesn't happen every time! Does it need some w d 40? 😂
@JENSENDIY3 күн бұрын
@@gregorycoltren2026 Sometimes the float is located to close to the tank wall. This happens more with foam insulated tanks so as the float moves it rubs or gets caught up. The fill valve alignment needs to be adjusted to fix this problem. If that’s not the problem it may be time for a new fill valve.
@gregorycoltren20263 күн бұрын
The toilet is like 2 years old, it works 90% of the time, then it won't start to fill up after a flush, so I pop the top off and barely tap the floater handle and it starts 😉 😜

I have a burner that fits my little woodstove. You really need a good chimney for that, but it works fine. It's smelly, but not worse than woodsmoke. It must be close to the draft in the stove for good results.

@@mojojo323 This product works well on small areas / imperfections. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for what you are describing. Just make sure you get the exact colour match. Also it may take some time to layer it as it needs to dry well between each coat / sanding.

Basically you get a new hot water heater you follow the rules and you might get some life out of it. Every couple years like you're supposed to and flushing and getting the settlement and ECT yes. But if you wait too long it's easier, or safer to just to get a new water heater at this point. Shoot 8 years that's already a good life expectancy when one has been maintained from day one. 8 years is great buy a new one and move on. The tank and fittings and everything is compromised at this point from being neglected for so long but it was a trooper must have had some good clean soft water wherever this one came from

Another problem that can arise is with the fill valve gasket. When worn, or gunked up, it won't make a good seal and the fill valve won't shut off at the right time. It's like a $2 part and easy to replace. Also, one tip I always like to share--never open up valves fully. If you want them at maximum open, just be sure to rotate back the other way about 1/4 turn. A big problem that can arise is a valve stuck in the open position, because someone turned it with some good force into the maximum position. And if you're unlucky, applying a lot of force to close it can cause it to fail... and then you'll have a serious problem requiring a water main shut off.

Interesting, is the rest of the rod just sitting in the bottom of the water heater causing it to eventually rust out?

No, it is dissolved. Boat motors, ship hulls use anodes as well. Anodes dissolve in response to salt and minerals in the water they are in, thus protecting what they are attached to.
