Unbelieveably helpful!! Can't thank you enough. ... And like Andrew said, looking like a reasonably handy guy to my wife never hurts, either! Hope I don't need your videos again too soon, but it's really nice to know they're there.

Very good idea. I'll try this since I can't hardly reach the back of the toilet with this "Concealed Trapway" thing.

@@davidhyde6503 As long as you have an exact replacement part it works great.

You just saved me time, money and boatload of frustration. Thank you so much! I had no idea those came apart. I actually had an old one in my garage. It took me under 5 minutes and no money! Thanks again.

Great video, and thank you for the reminder about the water haha I will be replacing my fill valve today! Also thank you for not making this video unreasonably lengthy!

Thanks for watching, I hope your fill valve change went as smoothly as mine did!

@JENSEN DIY Well, it didn't haha but it's all good now! That locking ring WOULD NOT lift up. I used channelocks to lift up on it even and the damn thing wouldn't budge! So, I ended up using a small hacksaw to cut it off. But after that it went great! No hissing and the toilet fills up well! Thanks again!

That’s a pretty handy trick for replacing those ! Great find

Thanks! I haven’t had to change many this way and never had a problem with the bottom part breaking. It’s better to change the whole valve if you can but this method sure helps if you’re not able to get the old one undone.

I have been putting off fixing the toilet valve for months! I have a skirted toilet and didn’t want to deal with it. I did all the flushes, I would tap it, I did everything I could to keep from replacing it. I finally got to the point where I had to do something, so before I got started, I watched your video. Are you kidding me?! This is so stupid easy to do. I’m already done. 🎉 It literally took 5 minutes. 😂. Many thanks for posting this. 💖

I wish I would have watched this video before I managed to disconnect the water line. But thank you for preventing me from having to remove the flush valve nut or removing the entire tank! Your method worked like a charm. And I did manage to get the water line connected again after some fussing about.

Glad you got it working again! Skirted toilets look nice but they sure make the fill valve difficult to work on.

What if the jet on the bottom of the post of the fill valve is weak? Removing the top portion of the fill valve like you did won’t fix it will it?

Thank you for the video! Will the Fluidmaster 400A Universal Toilet Tank Repair Valve work the same? It’s cheaper that’s why I ask. Thank you!

I have a toilet built under an overhang. Getting the black cap off is easy… is there any way to replace a seal (like some of the other fluidmaster valves) to fix a leaking fil valve?
@JENSENDIY4 ай бұрын
That’s a good question, I’ve had to remove the whole toilet tank before to service the parts when the toilet tank is under an overhanging counter. Nice to have the extra counter but not ideal for working on the toilet. There really is no easy way to do it so if you can’t get to the parts you need to remove the tank or the overhang.Good luck!

I tried to do the same but the lock ring was stuck so hard on the old valve. It would not budge at all. Any advice on how to remove it?
@JENSENDIY8 ай бұрын
If you can get a flat head screwdriver under the ring and twist that may get it or a piece of wire wrapped around under ring and pull upward. I haven’t had that issue before so if you cannot get it you may have to replace the whole valve. Good luck!

@@JENSENDIY My shut off valve was so old in my bathroom I couldnt turn the water off to make some of the repairs you have shown so I paid professionals like yourself to come in and relace it and the feed to the toilet. It wasnt too expensive.
