Great video. Really cleared some things up for me. Also thanks for using easy kanji / ones that beginners would be familiar with. I bought a kanji workbook and was confused on when to use what reading etc. Just a question do you do paid japanese lessons, or know anyone who might? I'm looking for someone who will teach japanese / converse with but Im not sure where to look.

Just as I'm beginning to grasp the sublime nature of Kanji and preparing myself to start learning it, I come across this. Why, why, why?? I'm starting to cry :(

Personal favourite: ボンキュッボン😆😈 (not really an onomatopoeia, but a descriptor more like. Still, I like it.)

I like using the honorific さん san for both male and females because it's easier for me, but what if I wanted to ask a question, what would you like to eat? Or do you guys want to hang out? Would I use their names, or is there something I can use without saying あなた anata

As a Korean speaker, watching this video Korean also uses counters for different objects. We also have counters for books (권/kwon), people (인/in or 명/myung), animals (마리/mari) they don't differentiate between animal sizes , for big objects like cars or mechanical objects (대/dae) for clothes (벌/beol), for glasses (잔/jan) , days (일/il) & months (월/wol) & many more!!

Thank you for the question! It’s actually a bit tricky… in most cases, it wouldn’t work. But like I said in the video, you can come up with your own new onomatopoeia, so in that term, anything can work!

Gomen kudasai --- "Forgive me (for entering your house.)" Equivalent to "HELLO?" You say this at the door of the house to call the resident inside as you wait at the door.

Hi Max, thank you for your video. I came across one inconsistency. When you first talk about 本 at 4:13, you say that 八本 is pronounced as "happon". However, when you talk about 本 again at 6:24, you say that 八本 is pronounced as "hachihon". Which one is correct? Thank you :)

The more you hear/use them, the better you understand them :) There might not be an instant solution for understanding them all, but eventually you will find yourself comfortable with them :)
