Thank you for watching the video :) I hope you learned something new or helpful! It is really important to be able to say sorry quickly when you need to, so practice saying all these ways to say sorry in Japanese! You won't regret perfecting these phrases! ;)

I have heard an explanation for the use of すみませんas a “thank you” being an apology for the inconvenience caused to them for doing the thing they’re being thanked for. Does that make sense?

Great Video Max! In the end I was just smiling really big :D I like the way you express yourself and explain the words and its proper usage. Also the background music is really chill! Please make a video about くれる、もらう、あげる since this is a key concept for Japanese and many will need to understand this. Also I could maybe get a deeper understanding of it, especially for もらう。 それと、丁寧な状況に便利なので、敬語の動詞は良い内容だと思います。 ありがとうございました。

Thank you for your kind comment :) I’m really happy to hear all that!!!! All the things you said make me super motivated to keep making content here! Also, thank you for your suggestion! I will definitely talk about くれる/もらう/あげる pretty soon. Like you said, the concept of these is really really important in Japan (especially when it comes to living here). Again, thank you so much for your comment, and I hope you enjoyed the video :) ありがとうございました😊

Gomen kudasai --- "Forgive me (for entering your house.)" Equivalent to "HELLO?" You say this at the door of the house to call the resident inside as you wait at the door.

Is すいません the same as すみません? Thank you for this lesson.
@maxsjapanese

Thank you for your comment! すいません is a verbal way to say すみません and it’s much more casual than すみません. It’s actually technically not a correct word, so when you write, you would avoid using すいません and instead always write すみません unless you are close with who you are talking to (or when you say it a bit jokingly!). It’s just easier to say すいません when you want to say すみません so fast (just like “wanna” for “want to” in English)! I hope it makes sense :)
