Question for anyone really. I’m 53 in relatively good shape. I’ve taken up hobby welding in the last 2 years. I followed everyone advice in the 80’s and 90’s. Went to college and earned a masters degree. I hate my job with a passion. Cannot stand it. I’d love to go do some welding/fabrication and do some real work with my hands. Am I too dang old at this point?

I've never worked at a gas plant. I'm currently working in a coal fired power plant, it's a 70 year old plant and i can say that it is a beginner's/apprentice's awesome place to learn

I never done a branch I've tested other but im gonna practice on it just have a few ? Do you mark inside on the troat and outside on ears and do you bevel troat n ear with landing

I'm glad the get tough idea works for you two. It seems as if she's very flexible to supporting the lifestyle. What flexibility does he give to her to support her feelings when she's feeling emotional? Understanding? Compassion? Or does she have to just 'stay tough'? Hey Jacob, I'm sure some of the less experienced welders would like to know what kind of cap pas you guys want to see on their tests. "Do you guys prefer all stringers for the cap pass, or do you guys prefer a weave pass as a cap pass on the 2'" 6g weld test? I know if it were me taking a test for you guys id probably do a downhand root 5p and 7018 uphand cap and hot passes. But thats just me. To each therir own. "But seriously weave or stringer passes? look up the geometry for doing equal arrays. I had a sheetmetal fab guy shiw me that. anything in a radius or compound radius can be exsplained in an array.

Ive always ran a metabo blade through the jam up spots of the pipe. Thats a perfect gap for me personally is a metabo gap. Whatever that comes out to be .045

I love , and have always loved the sound of a Lincoln welder starting up and running. Especially an old Red Seal f162 or 163. Maybe I'm just wierd but I've just always loved that sound. 😅 God bless
