Why is the benefit less on AM4 because they have the same layout, I assume it's a different curvature of the cpu or something?

@@NoctuaVideos Not what I asked as this doesn't explain at all why the benefit is less on AM4 but thanks
@NoctuaVideos3 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear the response didn’t fully address your question, so we’ll provide a bit more detail. The link we shared explains why offset mounting works on AM5-based CPUs. This method isn’t necessary on AM4 CPUs because they use a single, centered monolithic die, meaning the primary heat source is already positioned at the center of the IHS. This eliminates the need for offsetting, as the cooler naturally aligns over the main heat source. Hope this clarifies things further! If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Hi I’m planning to buy nhd15 and it shows am4 support and not am5 in product description. I’m assuming that included am4 mounting kit is same and can be used for am5 processor as well? Juat to be clear im talking about the secufirm2 kit that comes inside box by default.
@NoctuaVideos6 күн бұрын
Hi! In short, your cooler, which is compatible with AM4, is also compatible with AM5. The AM5 socket was released after your cooler was produced, so the compatibility may not be listed on the product box. However, the official product page has been updated to confirm AM5 compatibility. All Noctua AM4 mountings, except for those of the NH-L9a-AM4 and the NM-AM4-L9a/L9i, attach to the threads of the standard AM4 stock backplate. Since these backplate threads and their pattern are identical for AM4 and AM5, our AM4 mountings that use the standard AMD backplate also support AM5. If you’re moving to AM5, we recommend exploring the offset mounting brackets. By shifting the cooler downward (south), you may see an improvement in cooling performance of 1-3°C, provided there is enough clearance for the adjustment. For more details, please check here: noctua.at/en/offset-am5-mounting-technical-backgrounds

Hi! Thanks for this long-awaited release, I immediately ordered 7 PWM fans for a quiet and productive assembly. But here's what worries me. Please tell us why this new model has moved away from the reliable metal-reinforced motor hub technology that was used in the NF-A12x25? Does this have any effect on performance? In theory, this "deterioration" can affect longevity in the long run. And visually, the metal-reinforced motor hub looked just amazing! I am sure that over 10 years of development, all the nuances and subtleties have been taken into account, and there is probably no difference, except for the cost of production and the cost of the fan.

With the NF-A14x25 G2, we have introduced our new Centrifugal Turbulator hub structure that further enhances the fan's performance: noctua.at/en/nf-a14x25-g2-aerodynamic-design-innovations.html This would not have been possible with the metal hub structure that we use for the NF-A12x25 and the Sterrox LCP material we use for the impeller is easily stiff enough that there is no risk for longevity or stability. We understand that this topic has been brought up by a KZbinr who experiments with 3D-printed impellers and that the metal hub is helpful for this, but we build our fans for customers who use them in real world applications. For real world usage, there is no drawback, and the new Centrifugal Turbulator enabled us to further fine-tune the fan's performance.

So I went out and bought 3 new NF-A14x25 G2 PWM fans to mount on my newly purchased Arctic Liquid Freezer III radiator, and upon mounting first fan I immediately discovered an issue. Fan comes with gasket for radiators pre-installed (similar to option included in NF-A12x25 box). 3 years ago I mounted 3 NF-A12x25 fans with gaskets on each of them on back then purchased Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360mm AIO radiator and it was smooth sailing with paper sheet in the box recommending to use gaskets for radiators to prevent air leakage via gaps, everything was perfect and even works fine to this day. When Arctic released new AIO generation I thought about maximing the top panel on my case and get 420mm model so, I patiently waited the planned release of Noctua's new 140mm fans since regular A14 was getting old and outdone by A12x25 fans (even if 4 of A14 work fine in my case for 7 years now). Back to the issue - the now pre-installed gasket out of the box comes with these silicone rings on it. So called load bearing rings - now the problem with that is that those silicone rings on gasket prevent gasked itself to sit flush with radiator metal and I'm left with 1mm gaps on the sides of the fan. The question would be - what is the point of including the gasket with fan if it doesn't seal the gaps properly because of them silicone rings not squishing enough for gasket to sit flush with the metal. NF-A12x25 didn't had this problem because it's gasket didn't had those silicone rings around screw holes on it's gasket. If the gaps between radiator and fan frame is fine then all is good but still makes me wonder isn't the gasket purpose is to seal off the gaps?

Dear Customer, Thank you for reaching out with your concerns regarding the correct installation of NF-A14x25 G2 fans on a radiator. The protruding pads you mentioned are called load relief pads, designed to ensure even pressure, helping prevent long-term deformation of the fan frame. This feature is essential given the ultra-tight blade clearance of just 0.7mm between the rotor and frame. One primary reason for these pads is that radiator housing and fan installation points are often not perfectly perpendicular (90°), causing torsional stress on the fan frame. These pads are engineered to compress under normal screw pressure, providing an ideal fit while reducing strain, so you should see hardly any gap after tightening. For installation, please tighten the fan screws only until a small gap, or none, remains, taking care not to over-tighten. The total compressive load across all four screws should stay under 30kg (approximately 0.15-0.25 Nm of torque for typical M3 or UNC 6-32 screws). With M4 or fine-thread screws, lower torque may still apply more compressive force, so please exercise extra caution. When installing on a new radiator, it’s recommended to thread the screws first without the fan. This can help remove any paint residue in the threads, reducing the torque needed for a secure and proper fit. Thank you again, and please feel free to reach out with further questions.

Nice i have been using Noctua high end coolers since D14, then did use till recently D15 from since it was launched 10 years ago... But i have to say that this NH-D15 Gen II, is very expensive, you should have been focused instead on x3 version of the cooler, but instead on one single basic G2 model, that includes washers and different mounting parts, that can improve either AMD or Intel... Going with x3 different models, did only increase the cost of the G2 overall... I did find a deal second hand for the new G2 fans, x2 of them for 40$, and i did install them on my new D15 ChromaX, as i got tired of the bare metal heatsink. Now the temperaturs have been improved by 2-3c with the fans alone..
@NoctuaVideos15 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words, continued support, and honest feedback! Having three versions of the base has no significant impact on the end price of the cooler. It boils down to the much larger copper cold plate, 8 heat pipes, and the use of Sterrox liquid crystal polymer for the fans, which costs roughly 4x more than conventional PBT plastic. It's about pushing the limits and further improving products, and while we understand that some users may not always find the financial justification (since the original NH-D15 is still a fantastic cooler to this day), the fact that you've gained significant performance improvements by just swapping the fans makes us happy and justifies our need to push the boundaries. :)

@@NoctuaVideos Hello did not expect an repply tbh, very nice. Noctua has been great, your products are just so well crafted, also your support is OUTstanding, as one of my 14 industrial PPC fans did fail years ago, and your support not only did replace it, but also added AM4 kit, all free of charge even shipping, and i gotta say, this act did show me that your company really care about its customers and products. I can say few things that will improve Noctua. I think the D15 G1 and G2 both can benefit from having factory 3 fan clips, as some of us would like maybe to add 3 fan (yes you will also sell extra fan if the D15 came with 6 total clips not only 4) on the cooler, no matter it would not make much of a difference. Also consider some way of producing fans that are better like the G2 fans, but to cost about the same as the G1 fans, as i have seen so many ppl being disappointed, with the price of D15 G2, and pointing that ThermalRight have coolers that cost 1/3 of the price, and 95% of the performance. And i gotta say they have some point there, i also think the D15 G2 should cost like 100$, and tge D15 G1, like less 70$. I know Noctua is premium brand but still, maybe there is a way.. Now for me the price of the G2 fans or D15 G2 is not a problem, as i have my ways of reducing the cost.. The G2 fans i got second hand were used 2 months and like brand new did cost me 40$, instead of 80$, for that price they are great... Similar with the NH D15 G2, if i find it second hand for much less i will buy it, also after selling my old D15 G1, i will get 40% of my money back... But that is just me, most ppl buy them new, and then the price is not appeling for them.. So consider to find a way to reduce the price, as most ppl will just buy some cheap AIO for 60-70$ or ThermalRight dual tower for the same price, and ignore Noctua... Also i have seen so many ppl to curse and swear on the Noctua classic color of the fans, they say the color is like sh!t, and they piss me off, as why they dont see the color as is maybe chocolate or coffee, but cr@p... I find that now D15 G1 ChromaX with the classic fan colors of the G2 fans it look so slick and cool, as the original AF15 G1 fans in black are kinda booring...

I bought 5 of these to use them as case fans, from 850 to 1000 rpm you can hear the fans "humming" which is quite annoying. I tried using Noctua's rubber grommets and running them at slightly different speeds, the issue persists. Maybe does it come from the fans' motors ? At 1100+ rpm, the sound of the air moving covers the humming noise so it's more bearable. Good thing is that at 800 rpm, the fans are silent, yet you can still feel with your hand that they move a decent amount of air through the case.

Hello! It's best that you contact the Noctua support team and provide them with more information so they can try to troubleshoot the humming issue. The NF-A14 is still a fantastic fan, and we’re proud of how well it has held up in the market. However, as we aim to push the envelope and deliver even better noise-to-performance ratios, the engineering and production costs inevitably increase, especially with the use of advanced materials like Sterrox liquid crystal polymer. While this technology isn't yet the standard for every PC fan, we hope you can understand the efforts behind it. Thank you again for your feedback and continued support! We hope to keep delivering great products for your future builds.

Glad to see Noctua pushing the envelope. Cant wait for the black version, need them yesterday! PS. Noctua, please, develop 30mm+ thick 140 and 120 fans. Black! A 25mm fan is great as its very universal. But, in many situations a thicker fan can be easily fitted for added performance. Yes, adding Noctua spacers gives benefits as well, but a thicker fan could change the game drastically. You got a chance of getting ahead of the competition and saturating the market with a benchmark A14x30 / 32 fan, which could deliver unparallel performance. Especially in todays power hungry builds. I think its long overdue, both for 120mm and 140mm.
