Notice how he does that typical Picard gesture of pulling his uniform down when he is leaving the room. It's a very subtle movement but it shows that he is already inhabiting the role of captain.

Anyone catch the error in this scene? The control panel was hit by Spock who was no where near it! Vulcan power!

One thing I love about this episode is that, well... Think about it. In this scene, there's a duplicitous, scheming individual willing to use lies and deception in order to coerce his counterpart into a war they would not support if they knew the truth, and an honorable man open to the truth, willing to reconsider his options if presented with the proper evidence, all while trying to prevent his people from being dragged into a war that does not currently involve their nation. With the above paragraph, who would you normally think would be the Human Starfleet Captain, and which the Romulan Senator?

I remember the first time I watched him as Fielding. I was so angry because I wanted to watch FRIENDS but we didn’t have any streaming services we could watch it on, so I sat in my room bored. My mom found me and said “why don’t you do something? go outside, play, maybe chase the dogs around for a bit?” so I explained my (ever so big for a 12 year old girl) predicament. So she dragged me downstairs and we sat in front of the TV. She scrolled for a bit before stumbling on Night Court and said “I loved this show when I was a kid.” I wanted to be a lawyer at the time and had a very dark sense of humor so she immediately put it on and said “you’ll love Dan.” My mom was always right, and I did of course immediately love Dan. I love this show so much.

I saw an episode years ago, only once, Dan is dressed as a nun; he fools Christine, I forgot what they said to each other, but Christine soon finds out it’s Dan and she hits him, and hits him again, and hits him again, and all that time Dan is smiling … 😊 Could you show that too, or is it forgotten?

Riker contemplates how to be Capt. Riker without Picards shadow over him. Since Picard wrote the book on Enterprise, maybe Riker should not write one either but just be Unorthodox.🎉

"The Dominion is prepared to win at any cost." Funny thing about the Federation though - push them hard enough and next thing you know, they're unleashing a bioweapon that wipes out the Founders in one fell swoop.

Guinan is such an obnoxious and unnecessary character. Oh... wait! They needed a black character. OK.. But fuck she's boring! Holy shit. That fake pretentious wisdom always gave this wonderful show a smell of... body odor. I mean, really, we needed a bartender? Holy shit!

Great scene. Riker always needed career advice. I know why the series kept him as second in command for so long, but realistically, he would have been promoted to captain much sooner.

The way John portrays Dan gives me strong Dick Shawn vines. Shawn was an actor and a comedian from “it’s a mad mad mad mad world” and “The Producers.” He was known for his jittery and goofy yet energetic and affable presence when performing. Also, he became a silver fox when he got a little older, much like John. It also helps that John and Dick look and sound similar too.

Just one of MANY brief scenes that prove undisputably that Guinan was a FAR better Ship's Counselor than Troi ever could be. After all, Guinan had at least 400 years more experience dealing with various situations than Troi did. Just my own personal opinion anyway.

Never quite understood why Riker didn’t just stay as a captain from then on. Ok, they got Picard back. But for most of the Star Trek films, Kirk had TWO captains ( Spock and Scott) serving under him. Couldn’t Riker have likewise been first officer with the rank of captain?

I wouldn't call this a discussion, really. They don't list the "pros and cons" or have any real back-and-forth about it. Toby just says it should be "impossible" to execute someone, and Bartlet shrugs "it's not".

Throughout TNG and Deep Space 9, some of the best casting and writing was reserved for the Romulan characters.
